Google Voice app notifications not working for SMS and missed calls

Hi. After the last update from Verizon(security patches) on my S24+, I stopped receiving notifications from the Google Voice app about SMS and calls. I have tried to reinstall the app, reset all notifications, but nothing works. My wife is on S21 running Android 15 and has the same Google Voice app version, and it is working fine. 

Does anyone have Google Voice and notifications working?

That is not true. It only blocks how phones are connected to their network as many others do. They do push apps but so is the Samsung. I have not seen Verizon restricted any general apps from doing their things. Plus, under VPN it become almost impossible.

OK, you continue to believe what you want to believe.  Multiple people have told you otherwise. If you are such an expert you should be able to solve your own issue.  You can't come on a user help forum asking for help and keep arguing with people who are actually trying to help you.  Either accept what they are telling you to do, or bow out. This is not a Samsung issue, it is a either a Google issue or an issue unique to your device. Period.  I'm done here.

VPN, seriously. Why didn't I think of that, use a VPN so I can get back Samsung cloud without Verizon blocking me from using it!

I don't understand how a VPN can help eith that. Doesn't Verizon know you are still on their service? Your EID and IMEI remains the same, only the IP and location changes.

Do you know how Google Voice works? This is silly. Inside GV you can set up forwarding of SMS to email and the same works for voice mails in GV. You can even get an email for missing calls. I'm talking about native android notifications for SMS for GV app. 

OMG is the irony. I thought you said you installed it and it was working for you. Did you get a GV number?

Of course I did, I have had friends send me texts, I get a notification from the app, I get an email to my Gmail from the Voice servers, I get a notification from Gmail that I got an email.
Where are you not getting the notification?

I have sent myself texts, I have called, I have sent a voicemail. I get notifications for all of it.

I am not experiencing the lack of notifications for any service that comes with Google Voice .
They showed up on my device each and every time I have tested it.

I am also on the November security patch that I got today!

I was only not getting notifications, but was getting forwarded emails. This is how I knew notifications were not working.

Maybe this will help others. I still think that Samsung's security patch could have something to do with it as they may have fixed something that's needed, but broke settings while doing it. I was chatting with Verizon, and the only thing they asked me to do was to on/off all the notifications settings for GV app and turn off the phone for 5 minutes, and then bring it back up. The tech support insisted on turning the device off for 5 minutes as I told him that I already went and did the toggle for all settings and it worked. It makes no sense, but ...

VPN hides the trafic and network packets can't be inspected therefore to Verizon it will look like data and nothing more. GV uses data like any other app do. Verizon can differentiate between apps.
