Hi everyone,

Iโ€™m hoping someone else has seen this โ€” after the latest software update, my S24 Ultraโ€™s 0.6x ultrawide camera completely stopped working. Every time I open it, I get a โ€œCamera failedโ€ message, and now the entire camera app crashes more often than not.

Hereโ€™s what Iโ€™ve already done (per Samsung Support):

  • Force stopped & restarted the Camera app
  • Cleared cache and data
  • Reset camera settings
  • Updated all apps and system software
  • Booted in Safe Mode
  • Wiped the cache partition

Unfortunately, after the last step, it actually got worse โ€” the camera now fails across multiple modes.

Iโ€™ve been an Android user for over 20 years and have never had an update break a core function like this. Itโ€™s incredibly frustrating since I rely on my phoneโ€™s camera daily.

Has anyone else experienced this after the update? Is Samsung aware of a patch or replacement program being worked on for this issue?

Thanks in advance โ€” I really hope this gets addressed quickly.

S24 Ultra

You have 2 options left, a factory reset, if that doesn't doesn't solve the issue the final option is to go to a authorized Samsung service center to have them evaluate your device.

Thanks, but I really donโ€™t want to do a factory reset and lose all my stuff. Iโ€™ve already tried everything else โ€” clearing cache/data, resetting camera settings, Safe Mode, and wiping the cache partition โ€” and the problem is actually worse now. Seems like a post-update bug. Hoping Samsung will push a fix soon so we donโ€™t have to wipe our phones.

Why would you I u lose all of your stuff?

Do you never back up your phone?

You can put a thumb drive in yiur phone and back everything up using smart switch if you don't own a computer. You can even backup your phone to Samsung cloud for 30 days.

Yep! Same here I have tried EVERYTHING! My zoom focusing is also complete junk now. For instance, if I am taking overview photos of a room and then try to use my fingers to zoom into a small spot on the ceiling, my camera freezes and/or displays "Camera has Failed". If it doesnt get fixed I will be bummed.

I do dont have a lense cover and even without my otter box case, the issue persists. Come on Samsung!!

Never said I didn't back up my phoneโ€” I just prefer not to go through all that extra hassle unless itโ€™s absolutely necessary. Iโ€™ve already done every other time-consuming troubleshooting step Samsung suggested, and the issue clearly started after the update. Iโ€™d rather Samsung focus on figuring out why itโ€™s happening and get a proper fix out. But thank you for the tip!๐Ÿ˜Š

You need to run the diagnostics for the phone and see if the camera has any problems which you can then report to Samsung tech support in the Members app Support area.

Thanks, Neilth โ€” I actually already ran the full diagnostics in the Members app several times, and everything checks out fine. Thatโ€™s what makes me think itโ€™s a software bug from the last update, not the camera itself.

And @hhhhhhhhh1224 ๐Ÿ˜‚ youโ€™re right, Android might only be 17 years old, but Iโ€™ve been with Samsung since the very beginning โ€” basically a day-one loyalist. Feels like 20+ years of experience at this point!

Same issue here. Wondering if a wire came loose inside the phone. Just needs to be fixed.
Im about ready to factory reset!
