I have a wa40a3005aw Samsung washer. I tend to use the quick wash setting. I noticed it goes by default to the warm water setting. Is there a way to change it to have it set at cold all the time? I just forget sometimes.

Your washer actually has the ATC (automatic temperature control) feature which uses a temperature sensor at the start of each cycle to control water temperatures.
If you wish to wash clothes in specific water temperature as mentioned then regrettably, no there is no way to set the temperature by default.
