Question: Can part of the ice maker be used for storing other frozen items? For instance, if I turn off ice bites or cubed, could I use one-half of the ice tray for other stuff besides ice?

Great question! The short answer is, it depends on the model and ice maker. If the ice maker has a freestanding, easily accessible bucket, you could store other items there, as long as that ice maker is turned off. However, many of our ice makers have an enclosed bucket that attaches to the ice maker. For these models, it may be difficult to access items stored in the bucket. Additionally, these models are often attached to a through the door dispenser. If that is the case, we would not recommend putting anything else in the bucket as this may cause damage to the auger that dispenses ice.
