Galaxy WatchHi! Just got my Galaxy Watch yesterday. And already today it stopped counting steps. It counted a little and then all together quit. I reset it multiple times and after the third time it counted 50 steps and quit again. Any one else is having this issue?

Galaxy WatchThank you so much for this post, I have tested my gyro and it fails every single time?! Heading back to Curry's ASAP.
Not sure how they'll feel about me wanting to test other devices there and then but would possibly be risky to reorder one from Samsung and hope it is one that actually works.

Galaxy WatchStep counting seems to average about 80% of what my GS8+ Phone and my GearS watch both report. This watch is nice in many ways, but it's just not a viable solution with these flaws. I logged a 4 mile run the other day, yet the pedometer only thought I was at 3.5 miles when I finished. How is that even possible considering the pedometer tracks all steps for the day, not just the run.
I returned my pre-order (first) thinking I just had a lemon. My second watch is not working any better. I'm planning to return it tomorrow.
Model | SM-R800 |
Software Version | R800XXU1BRH3 |
Security Status | TZPF_SM-R800_4.0_0001 |
Knox | 2.3.0 |
Knox Tizen Wearable SDK | 2.3.0 |
SE for Tizen | 2.0.0 |
TIMA | 3.0.0 |
Tizen Version | 4.0.0.0 |
All those specs are the same for both watch 1 and watch 2. Is there a software update in sight?

Galaxy WatchHad all the above problems, tried everything. The moderators suggest things which I've done with no luck. Told it will be sorted with a software update. When I've asked then this will be, I don't get a response at all.
Mines going back tomorrow, I think I've been patient enough.
Going to pre oder the fitbit charge 3. Alot cheaper and hopefully much better.

Galaxy WatchI think everyone on here has already run the update from a couple of days ago, which appears to be what you're referring to. It doesn't help the step inaccuracies in any way.

Galaxy WatchYep, did the recent update. Still doesn't count steps properly. I'm unfortunately stuck with the watch but if anyone reading this is looking to purchase the Galaxy Watch and wants reliable health data, especially for counting steps, I would recommend they look elsewhere.

Galaxy WatchThank you guys for confirming. If you have completed the update already, can you post your current software/baseband versions so I can update the information received from the private message I sent out a short while ago.
****If you did not receive a message from me, we need your full model code, software/baseband version, Carrier info(or Bluetooth), Partnered Handset Info, and the Discrepancy Amount and how this was gathered. ****
Be sure to click " ✓ Accept as Solution" when you find an answer that works for you.

Galaxy WatchHere is my info with an admittedly small sample size, although a larger sample would yield similar results.
SM-R800, R800XXU1BRJ4, paired with Note 8
Yesterday's totals: Galaxy Watch 12036 steps, Fitbit Blaze 16044. Galaxy Watch read 33% fewer steps. Also, Galaxy Watch registered 0 floors climbed, Fitbit registered 15.
Today's abbreviated totals: Galaxy Watch 3872, Fitbit Blaze 4865. Galaxy Watch read 26% fewer steps. GW 0 floors, FB 7.
For what it's worth, my 2 Gear S3s almost never registered any floors either, whereas all 3 Fitbits I've owned counted stairs flawlessly.
