GPS and AOD broken after latest galaxy watch update

Its already been posted here about the AOD being broken with the workout screen after the latest watch update. But it also appears to have affected the GPS accuracy as well. It might not be noticiable for some unless your doing long distance workouts, but my regular runs were typically around 7.1 - 7.15km with great consistancy. And when you looked at the map, the gps tracking lines were always clean and straight, which with the watch 7 is attribured to its dual gps design. But now immediately after the update which had already broken the AOD workout screen for live data, i am getting poor gps tracking lines and the last two runs coming out to over 7.3km for the exact same route. Which it had never done in the past. It feels like they have potentially adjusted the gps settings to try save some battery and sacrificed the gps accuracy as a result.

It is a MASSIVE understatement on how frustrated i am about this new update and has caused me much distress because of how i hate when things mess with my exercuse routine so destructively.

It's happened to me too!

I cycle long distances, and I noticed that after the update the records are showing much more than a certain route has, it's possible to see the crooked lines as mentioned in the post.

Yes, it appears they may have tried to improve battery optimization by reducing the accuracy of the GPS tracking. The decreased tracking that you can notice in the map with the jagged lines is the cause of the inflated distance numbers. As the natural result of something not following a straight path will incur added distance to the calculation. 

If people can submit feedbacks in the samsung members app then it may be possible to get resolved but it could very easily be a software decision that they may not decide to go back on. I will be seriously considering buying or sumbitting for warranty to try get the older software version if this cannot get resolved. Exercise tracking is the primary purpose of my galaxy watch and it needs to be reliable, consistant like the day i first purchased it. Having something as significant as this changed into its life cycle is unnacceptable to me.

They suggested thru customer service that I "send device in for repair under warranty." Dumb.

Yeah very typical customer service response, many electronic product services have a major disconnect for software support compared to hardware. Easy to find support for any typical hardware faults, but when its software related. Direct support services to the departments that can actually do something about it are often disconnected.

Yes its now an utter mess. Whether on power saving mode or normal mode, it draws traces all over the shop WHERE I HAVE NOT BEEN!!

Also has issues in that if I do a combined hike and cycle ride, and set it to hike, it misses off the bike bit and if set to bike it misses off the hike bit. I want it to record EVERYTHING no matter the speed. Idiotic update that has literally made the watch completely useless to me.

An example of the total nonsense that the GPS is recording since last update. I was stood still. It recorded several KM!!!

I have the same problem, before the update my bike commute was consistently recorded as 16,5 km, now it varies between 18 - 25 km! I get the same jumbled line and the graph also has lots of spikes of 90 km/h!

Samsung health app was updated (version 6.29.8.001) on the 19 of may and has fixed this GPS issue for me, well done for everyone who submitted reports. Seems samsung listened or discovered the problem and resolved it promptly.

Never mind, was just coincidence that one day it was good but now back to it being bad again.

I switched back to my old galaxy watch 3 after this happened. Hope samsung thinks of something soon because the watch 7 ultra hasn't really offered me much more than my old watch 3. The watch 3 even has better battery life so far, which i find sad.

I have had the same problem, overestimating my hiking mileage by almost double. They need to get this fixed, thinking about purchasing another company's fitness watch. Can't rely on this one.
