The only option you currently have to remove the recording icon is to switch to a different phone dialer app. You are not required to use the Samsung dialer.

Why buy a Samsung phone if the most basic function, a phone call app, is destroyed by a clumsy dumb apps engineer at Samsung? It so basic and needs to be fixed!

Then do not buy a Samsung Phone.  You are not required to use Samsung apps just because they are provided with the phone.  If another app serves you better (and another dialer will), then you would download and use the other app.  You know, Samsung was the only major brand that did not include a recording feature and they gave into the demand for it. Yes, they did it badly, that still does not  mean you have to use their phone app if you don't like the added feature.

I use a bluetooth earpiece so I do not have my phone in hand most times but a couple of times while on a call ,as I was putting my phone in my pocket this stupid s### started recording and the person I was talking to felt like I was trying to be slick asking why would you try to record our call ? What's going on ? This on screen feature is ridiculous and causes issues with others side eyeing you. I don't know what rocket scientist put it onscreen without a way to disable it so it's not accidentally hit and turned on. My next phone will be iPhone I've been trying to stick with androids but this is the last straw since LG stopped making phones

I have an Galaxy S23 Ultra.. I installed an update about a week ago.. all of a sudden I'm talking to my boyfriend and I hear "this call is being recorded"... He goes what the heck is that.. I told him I didn't know..  I looked at my screen and there was an recording icon right on the upper left side of the dial pad... this was installed when I updated my phone.. because it was not there before..I've had my phone almost 3 years.. so this is a new one for Samsung.... I have tried to disable it and it is not possible... there isn't anything to turn off... this new feature is annoying and could really cause problems......I'm seriously thinking of switching to an iphone when it's time to upgrade..
