Do you need to buy a a base? I just got my phone yesterday and when I took it out of the box, I noticed that both ends are the same size and fit into the phone. There isn't a larger size that fits the standard base I've used with my other Galaxy phones. Is there a different power base I need to buy or just use my old charger? What have other people done???

Be careful with cheap chargers. There's a reason they don't cost very much. Cheap components can overheat and even start fires. If there's one thing to not skimp on with electronics, it's charging accessories.

Thanks for the heads up. It had over a 1k, 5 star reviews, so I'm sure it will be OK. I'll obviously keep an eye on it, though. Just a I would with a $50 base. It's funny, the most expensive base I found was $7, and those were for the old style bases. That was at Walmart, at least. On T-Mobile, the bases ranged from $40โ€$50, and I find that to be just ridiculous.

You can use your old cord and brick. It will just charge at 15w instead of the 25w that the phone is capable of.

I would never use a cheap charger, I don't care what the reviews say.
Not worth the risk.

I also think that Walmart doesn't have to mark up a Samsung base 1000% like T-Mobile does. If they marked it up at a more reasonable rate, then they would sell more and wouldn't have to charge people that do pay the exorbitant price so much. Even on Samsung's website, the base is only $15.

I always use Anker chargers, the prongs fold down for travel.
