UI 8 update severed communication between my phone and my car stereo

As of this morning after the update installed UI 8, my phone would only connect to my car stereo (stock stereo, 2010 mazda3) for calls, and if I toggled Audio it was incredibly unstable and would toggle it off at random after a few seconds. I unpaired my phone from my Mazda on the phone, and unpaired my phone from my Mazda on the stereo. Attempting to pair the phone to the car is no longer an option, as the Bluetooth scan will no longer even detect the Mazda at all. This is, to say the least, a TITANIC issue, and this is a professional problem and a safety hazard for me. Something MUST be done to fix this

Thanks for the additional information.

Sounds like a Bluetooth issue.

Try 'reset Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings' in Settings.

Agree with this.  My car is a 2022 Chevy Traverse which DOES play nice with Android Auto.  Multiple times now I have had issues with either the connection not working properly or breaking and "sort of" working, but not really.  Car/phone bluetoothe connections were flawless and stable before the update.

Can I revert to UI 7?  UI 8 doesn't have enough improvements to be worth it.

Is it possible for you to use Android Auto via a USB connection to your phone and car until they can get a fix out?

You dont need a software update and theres nothing wrong with your car. Its the phone that glitches after receiving/updating to UI 8. But have no fear, I come in peace. With a solution until Samsung/Google has a permanent fix. Not pulling anyone's leg here. I own a Mitsubishi Outlander Sport AWC 2.4GT with the Rockford Forgate Premium sound system with the integrated Sub in the trunk. So believe me when I said I was really missed after updating to UI 8. After days of loss of sleep and contemplating on changing to a whole new head unit and harnesses (about $1200) I focused on the phone and used my IT skilz. Well, I tell you I am not getting a new head unit and so are all of you in here. What you already have is still good. Here's a video I put together a while ago. Its been working fine for tge entire day now after the tweeks I did. Don't believe me? Check out the video. https://youtube.com/shorts/nY5THPvlvKM?si=Phg2hdAMfdem8IKo

I will post instructions on what to do later. Not in this for the money. Cuz I know we all love our setups and this was not a funny mishap on Samsung part for all of us. I need to replace my car battery, it died today from this constant on and off testing and its also a 9 year old battery. By the way, Like the Video so I can gauge how widespread this issue is.

Here are the instructions...

I take no responsibility for the following instructions. Though the end result for me, I was able to get my head unit in my car to connect automatically to my phone and allowed me once again to stream my music apps and talk on the phone through my cars sound system like I did before the UI 8 update.

I am using a Samsung S24 Ultra, what you may have may be different but the instructions should be pretty similar if using a Android Operating system. Also, this may not work for everyone.

Goto SETTINGS

Scroll all the way to the bottom, and Tap on โ€˜About Phoneโ€™

Scroll down and Tap โ€˜Software Informationโ€™

Scroll down to โ€˜Build numberโ€™ and Tap it 7 or more times till it ask for YOUR PASSORD

Once you have enter your password, it will say โ€˜Developers Option is Unlockedโ€™

Now at the top of your phone, Tap the arrow on the left of Software Information to go back to About Phone, then Tap the left arrow next to About Phone

You should now be back at Settings, scroll all the way to the bottom and you will see โ€˜Developers optionsโ€™

[okay, so again, I take no responsibility. Once you are in Develops option, if you decide to tap on other stuff that I have not given any instruction for and you change those parameters and your phone takes a dump. ITโ€™S NOT MY FAULT.]

Tap โ€˜Developers optionsโ€™

Carefully scroll down to the 57th line, it should say โ€˜Bluetooth AVRCP Versionโ€™ yours should say below that AVRCP 1.5(Default)

Tap on โ€˜Bluetooth AVRCP Versionโ€™

Now change it from 1.5 to 1.3 then back out of all of this and RESTART your phone.

If everything is done right. Your head unit should be able to link with your phone automatically on startup of your vehicle.

[you can search online about Bluetooth AVRCP Version, and you can read up about the different versions]

I contacted Samsung support about the same issue. They told me that i paired my Bluetooth wrong. They were right. I have the exact same car, a 2010 Mazda 3 hatchback. If you look at the manual for this car (page 295 of 504), you need to pay careful attention to step 3. It says "Press the audio control dial while โ€œPIN 0000โ€ is displayed." I didn't do this. I wasn't able to re-pair Bluetooth to the car. Once i did this, my phone (a 2022 S22 ultra) could pair with the car.

Alternatively, you can use the "Speak" button, upper top left of your steering wheel, to pair the Bluetooth. Try this youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOOcbx-vwYE&t=7s

Hope it helps.
