They should bring back the sd card slot! I love this phone but there no reason why they took it away in the first place.

I know they're doing it to push cloud service subscriptions. But the holding photo and music without worrying about space was the original selling point and now the only thing keeping me is the AI feature of Google which I think is for all Google products so I might have to try the new Sony Xperia they still have sd card slots.

@Albert9888 Metrics collected by Samsung when phones had SD cards showed that most people didn't use SD cards. The majority who did install an SD card typically installed a small capacity one. The ones that did install an SD card typically used just a few % of the capacity of the card. So, Samsung followed the data and removed the SD card.

They should re-evaluate the data because back then statistically people did not take as many photos back then or have as many files back then. Now apps, movies, and music are double the space, and every phone user I know is low on space even with the standard 256 GB. Samsung could also use an SD card as a big ad to capitalize on Apple's low storage and how many people pay or get the iCloud notification for low storage.

Back then phones had less storage which would imply a better use case for SD cards. I seriously doubt that availability of SD cards is going to cause a major move from iPhone.

Cloud is extremely convenient. Or you can use a NAS drive on your own network and an app to automate copying photos to the NAS. Or you can use a flash drive.

Phones now have more storage but apps, photo,videos,and ui use more of that storage a 256 s gives you around 200 gbs not 256. What i dont like is samsung removing features but increasing prices an exynos flip 7 for 1,099.

You could be surprised I've talked to many co-workers and most people are fed up with subscriptions now and to be able to buy an SD card and not cough up money for a cloud service that can get hacked like the iCloud scandal seems worth it.

Tbh never used or boughten a cloud subscription I usually end up transferring it to my laptop but it defeats the purpose of me showing a friend a cool photo. Never heard of Nas drive and I'm into technology a lot. Once again flash drive can't show people the photos I take for vacation or download videos for long flights.

NAS == Network Attached Storage

It is storage that lives on your network. I use a NAS from Synology. They have a Photos phone app which backs up every photo or video via WiFi or cellular. I can also see any photo or video from anywhere.

They also don't allow you to use SD cards for apps or games like the Nintendo Switch or Steam Decks they could try to dominate the game market by adding the software to allow SD cards to have games or apps, especially with the fold.
