Apps Disappearing from Recent Apps Screen After One UI 8 Update

After updating my Galaxy S24 Ultra to One UI 8 (Android 16), I've noticed that some apps occasionally disappear from the Recent Apps screen, even though they are still running in the background.

For example, if I open the Amazon app and then exit it, it sometimes doesn't appear in the Recents view, but when I open it again from the home screen, it resumes exactly where I left off.

This happens with multiple apps, not just Amazon. If I go to the app settings and force stop the app, then open it again, it appears normally in the Recents screen - but later, the issue comes back.

So the app stays active in memory, but it's not shown visually in the Recent Apps list.

S22 ultra here and it's happening to me too mainly after installing oneui8. Called the helpline but they just told me to update and then try a factory reset... Which I really CBA to do. Especially if it's not a guaranteed fix.

Doesn't seem to match the apps in the recommended for me either, and reading these comments, it seems like it's the same apps for all of us. Amazon is the biggest one that keeps coming up and that was the one I first noticed!

I restarted the phone and it goes back to normal. I encountered this issue every time I turn on a mode (from modes and routine) that restricts me from opening certain apps. Those chosen apps will not appear in recent apps after disabling the mode, I think the phone still thinks the apps are restricted so it doesn't show on the recent apps even though you can open the app.

Glad to know I'm not the only person facing this problem. I suspected it was something to do with GoodLock

Do make sure that apps that are getting closed were not added to deep sleeping apps accidentally. In my case, that was the case.

On a side note, apps added to deep sleep show a "Enable" option in their app info page, so check that as well.

Still having this issue after updating to UI 8. Seems to happen with only one app at a time (that I've noticed), and the specific app will change sometimes, possibly after my phone does it's scheduled weekly restarts (haven't tested that part, just theory)

I had the same issue on my S22 after updating to One UI 8 and what fixed it for me was to remove all Sleeping and Deep Sleeping apps, and disable "Put unused apps to sleep" under Settings >> Battery>> Background usage limits.

I wiped cache too which didn't seem to have any effect but just wanted to mention it in case you need to do both of these to get it fixed.

I contacted customer support via text and they walked me through how to do both of these.
