After the One UI 7 update I've noticed in Google Messages that if I long press (to paste) there is the Galaxy AI icon. I have all of the AI features disabled. This shouldn't appear there. Just to test if it was a bug showing the icon, I clicked it. This brought up the Writing Assist panel that should be disabled.

I'm not sure if there are other apps that have the same issue, but I noticed this one this morning. I did attempt to test in Google Search Bar and it was not present.

If I click the settings icon in the Writing Assist panel, it takes me to Settings > Galaxy AI > Writing Assist where it does show that it is disabled. I verified the sub-setting "Chat Translation" was disabled as well.

This is obviously either a bug, or intentional. I hope it is a bug and that we have true control over Galaxy AI being enabled on our phones.

Need a patch to fix this issue please.

UPDATE: This bug is present here in Samsung Members as well.

Same problem. I sent a feedback request about it. Absolutely disappointed it's not completely off!

The samsung feedback did just give me a tech phone number to call which was completely useless because it does seem like it's a bug, BUT if enough people send in feedback TO samsung (not here because they don't read it here) they may put out a fix.

It's almost July and still no fix.  I'm giving Samsung until July to fix this bug or else I'm going with an Iphone.  I hate companies doing stupid **bleep** like this just to force their unnecessary features be useful.  I disabled this feature.  Why is it still showing?

I reported the issue in May via Samsung Members. I even got a reply, however it was like "Your request has been forwarded to the company's technical department. Whenever possible, all customer requests are taken into account when developing new software versions and models. We hope that the setting will be implemented in the next updates." So it is... nothing, actually. Not convincing. Especially with the fact that it's already JULY. Maybe I'm too pessimistic, but it seems that nobody cares about the bug metioned. Maybe they are eager to keep it.

Hello,

I’ve noticed an issue with the context menu when switching languages. In English, the “Paste” button is shown directly in the pop-up next to “Writing toolkit.” However, when switching to another language (like Russian), the “Paste” option gets hidden under the three-dot menu. The “Writing toolkit” becomes “Инструменты для написания” and it takes up more space, pushing “Paste” out of view.

This makes it less convenient and slows down usage, especially when frequent pasting is needed.

It would be great if the “Paste” button could remain easily accessible regardless of the selected language or the length of other menu items.

Yep having the same issue, very frustrating. looking for a way to completely rip out the samsung AI stuff, considering going as far as rooting my phone.

when this device breaks and needs to be replaced, it'll be my last Samsung device.

I agree, Samsung went too far
I always bought the top versions of Samsung, but the s24ultra first disappointed me with the screen, and now with this idiotic update with AI.

looks like its time to change brand

I decompiled system files (framework.jar -> android.widget.Editor -> populateMenuWithItems) and as I see there is no check if the option is disabled or enabled.
And yes, there is no way to disable it via options ADB.

Dear Samsung, please fix this garbage! We want to be able to **not** use these features! Stop pushing down our throats

This is unacceptable. I'm regularly paying $1200-$1500 to own a phone, not to have AI shoved down my throat .
