Amazing they want the app and refuse to switch, but they want to modify the app to not have a box or something or other at the top.  Maybe people need to learn to code and make their own app to their own specifications.

Because it's a Samsung exclusive product that only works on Samsung phones and they only brought back a version for certain phones, so you won't even see it in the Galaxy store if your phone isn't one of the models that can have it. If available, it would only be available in the Galaxy store.

They were going to let it die, but then they reached an agreement with Google to allow the use of their RCS technology for their messaging app, but only on the S25.  They then brought back a legacy, non-RCS version for the S24.  I don't believe that Samsung has any desire to maintain their messaging app any longer, and the current versions are an appeasement for the newest phones.  They may well bring it back if they can secure a wider range agreement with Google, but I don't see Google giving up something exclusive.  You will just have to wait and see, but I wouldn't hold my breath on it.
