TabletsNot knowing how old it is or whether it's actually a dead battery or if it just was turned off recently and won't start, Try pressing and holding the Power and Vol Down buttons for about 60 seconds and see if it comes to life. Also if not, plug it in and leave it over night and see if it charges and lastly, connect it to a computer USB and see if it eventually comes to life from that.... otherwise it needs service or replacement.

Tablets@ShortBusMeg If it is the original Samsung Tab A, it was released 8 years old. The battery could be dead.
