Samsung Apps and ServicesCould be network issue from carrier side, that's been the case so far for this type of issue.
Check with your carrier first and if they can't help, then submit error report using Samsung Members > Get Help tab > Error Report after the issue is reproduced or seen again.
that being said, who is the carrier? please share the device model number and the software version.

Samsung Apps and Serviceshow long ago was that? it takes me maybe... 3-5 days to get a reply.
some may take longer due to difficulty in pin pointing the cause.

Samsung Apps and Servicesbeing that both of you are ATT customers, I wouldn't exclude the possibility that it could be a carrier side's issue.
additionally, software version is found under Build Number(last 4 digit) in Setting > about phone > software.
regarding duplicating texts, there's not a lot of DIY's that can be done... just common things like deleting cache partition, reboot, network reset. Otherwise it's literally just trial and error, constant hit or miss attempt at fixing.
Ask the carrier to check the connection stability and maybe refresh/reboot, or whatever they call it, the connection between your phone and the network to see if it helps. I'm no professional so I don't even know if what I said is an actual thing... I'm just wondering if they can refresh the connection like they do with the home internet service.

Samsung Apps and ServicesThank you for reaching out. I can certainly understand your frustration from so many duplicate messages. In order to correct this, you will currently have to turn off AT&T messages back up and sync.
Give these steps a try:
1. Open the messages app
2. tap the 3 vertical or horizontal dots and select settings
3. Select AT&T messages backup & sync
4. tap the stop back up option
Be sure to click " ✓ Accept as Solution" when you find an answer that works for you.
