How'd i set the sounds for my text messages

If you have Google Messages you can do it from there. You should find what your looking to do in settings: sounds, & vibration, or directly from the messaging app that you use.

Turn on notification categories in notifications advanced settings. Return to the app notification settings, tap on categories and select your sound for incoming messages.

Enable Notification Categories (Crucial First Step) 

Open your phone's Settings app.

Go to Notifications > Advanced settings.

Toggle on "Manage notification categories for each app". 

Step 2: Change the Default Tone in Google Messages

Open the Google Messages app.

Tap your Profile icon (top-right).

Select Message settings > Notifications.

Scroll down to "Notification categories" and tap on it.

Tap on "Incoming messages" (the words, not the toggle).

Tap Sound and choose your new tone from the list. 

Step 3: Set Custom Tones for Specific Contacts (Optional) 

In Google Messages, open a specific conversation.

Tap the three-dot menu > Details (or Contact details).

Tap Notifications.

Scroll to Sounds and select a custom tone for that contact.
