QLED and The Frame TVs
I'm going start this post by voicing my displeasure with this situation. I'm extremely displeased. Here's the situation. I had to replace my 65" curved television (UN65NU7300FXZA) after about only 5 years because the picture developed a huge, black vertical line. See pictures. However, that's not the issue. I replaced it with a QN75Q70DAFXZA 75" QLED TV. The soundbar that I had connected to the old TV is a HW-R450/ZA. I tried to connect it to the new TV using the optical cable, which was the same way I had it connected to the old TV. The TV did not recognize it. I decided to use the bluetooth function instead. Here's the problem. The TV constantly stops providing audio to the soundbar. When that happens, I have to press the home button on the remote, then select the recent tab on the home screen. When I return to what I was watching, the audio has returned. It doesn't matter what platform I am viewing. It does it on all of them. It goes out multiple times during the viewing of any program. I've even had to go into the settings and "forget" the bluetooth connection and set it up again. This is very disruptive to my enjoyment of what I am viewing. Needless to say, I spent over $1,200.00 on this TV and I expect to be able to get through a movie without a disruption in the audio connection. Before I try to return the TV, I was hoping someone from Samsung can tell me if others have this issue and how I can remedy it. Thank you.

Have you tried connecting the two via HDMI using the earc port in the TV? That would be much more reliable.

Thanks for the tip. However, the soundbar has only optical, USB, and AUX inputs. I never had a single issue with the optical cable on my old TV. I'd prefer that method, but it won't let me connect that way.

I'd focus instead on getting optical to work--could be an incompatibility betwee old & new Bluetooth versions.

Maybe it's something simple like you didn't push it in all-the-way or something. Do you see light at the end of the optical cable when connected to the TV? Selected the right input on the soundbar? I'd try it again Joe, maybe with another optical cable too.

I was able to get the optical cable to work. In my haste to make the connection, I forgot to change the input on the soundbar. Now, the TV remote will not operate the soundbar. I have to use the soundbar remote to change the volume. I am a sound engineer for live bands as a side gig. So, hooking up a home system should be simple. My original gripe is that given the amount of money I spend on home entertainment, the **bleep** should work. I don't believe the soundbar is incompatible with the TV. They're both Samsung, and, unless I'm wrong, bluetooth connections are all compatible. Thanks for your advice. Any input is always appreciated.

Couple things. Your old tv went out because it is an ā€œedge litā€ backlight (see bright spots at bottom plus burnt out LEDs on black bar). The Q70D I believe is also an ā€œedge litā€ or maybe dual LED.. either way, those panels are known to go out much sooner than full array and mini LED TVs. Itā€™s prob too late, but being a long time Samsung multiple tv owner, Iā€™d strongly recommend returning the Q70 for a Q85D or better yet, just get a tCL QM7/qm8.

secondly, if you stick with Samsung, I really like the QSymphony feature on my QN90C/Q990D but youā€™d have to upgrade your soundbar to a more current Q series bar and use the earc function. There are some crazy good deals on the 2024 soundbars right now! (Q990D on Samsung partner portal for under $900, Q730D under $400(in rounding up fyi).

btw, I kept going back and forth changing/upgrading tv then soundbar the. Tv again then soundbar before I learned about earc and how it all works. Hope that helps!
