This is my 2nd of these monitors. The retailer took back the first as you couldn't get the display to show anything via the USB-C port - it kept asking us to turn on the connected device and then going to sleep.

The replacement monitor work display wise - great. But it isn't supplying power. My USB-C cable is rated to 40 Gbps and 240W.

I took the same cable to work an plugged it into a Dell monitor - and it does supply power to the laptop.

Is this another fault and I need to replace the screen again?

I did a support chat. They suggested plugging a phone into the USB-C cable coming from the monitor to see if that charges and it does.

That means that the charge coming from the monitor is incompatible with the Lenovo X1 Gen 5 charging circuitry and/or battery. 😞
