LED and OLED TVs

Hi,

My wife is light sensitive.  We have a 6 year old 65" Samsung LED TV that I can turn down the brightness to a very low level by adjusting the back light and contrast for night viewing for my wife.  I bought a QLED 32" for a second room in 2021 and the brightness cannot be turned down to where we need. I am looking at replacing the old LED with a S95D QD-OLED model and based on the 32", I am concerned the S95D may also have a dim limit.

I went to a Best Buy store to try one and all the TV's are locked out to adjustments so they could not let me try one.

Can anyone comment on how dim you can set a S95D 65" model?

Otherwise I will have to buy and try, and return if it is too bright.

Thanks

@TedT-CA I think it is kind of hard for someone to try it and say it is dim enough for you. They may think it is very dim but you may find it not dim enough. Also, this is going to be highly dependent on room lighting or lack thereof. A dim screen in a normally lit room is not going to appear dim in a dark room with no lights.

If you know how many lumens or some other measurable quantity, it might be easier to find what you are looking for in reviews, etc.

Going with an OLED is better if you want lower Lumes. You would be better off going with the S90D series because it is less bright than the S95D series. Since OLED is not backlit, it works on the principle of individual pixels being turned off. Peak brightness will be lower on a OLED rather than MINI LEDS. You will have better control with brightness on an OLED.

Has she considered obtaining filtered glasses so everyone doesn't have to view a dim screen?
