LED and OLED TVsProblem:
Onkyo Receiver connected to eArc HTMI port of S90C TV automatically powers on every time I turn on the TV. This may be a nice feature for a sound bar but for a receiver, I only want to use the receiver for watching movies in 5.1. I don't want surround sound for watching regular TV content. I've seen other similar complaints for other types of devices that are connected such as game console, blu ray player, etc...
One solution is to disable CEC. However, I do want to retain the CEC feature of detecting my other devices (Roku stick, TIVO, Blu-ray/Gaming) and auto-switching HDMI to those sources automatically. In addition, when I'm actually wanting to use the receiver, it is nice to use the actual ARC feature of switching sound to the receiver and controlling the volume of the receiver with any remote that can control the TV volume. Disabling CEC effectively disables ARC.
Feature Request:
Provide an option to the eARC/CEC settings to Enable/Disable Auto Power-on of the device connected to the ARC HDMI port. The default setting is set to ENABLED to match current functionality of powering on the ARC HDMI connected device when the TV powers on. I can change the setting to DISABLED, which changes the behavior such that next time I power on the TV, it should NOT automatically power on the device connected to the ARC HDMI port.
I was previously a Product Manager for a tech company so hopefully this can be copy and pasted into whatever JIRA feature system that you may have. Thank you.
