Hi, I have the Samsung S84F 77" OLED (QN77S84FAEXZA) and it’s making a repeated clicking noise all night long when turned off.

What I’ve tried:

Factory reset

Disconnected all HDMI cables

Turned off Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC)

Disconnected Wi-Fi

The sound continues even when nothing is connected except power. It’s not just a few cooling clicks — it happens constantly throughout the night. Is this normal or a possible hardware issue?

Thanks for any help!

@Ozarka Although it could be a board or some type of mechanical causing the noise, I would suspect that it is something coming from the speaker(s).

When the TV is off, speakers are inactive, and no inputs are connected — so they can’t be making noise. The repeated clicking is mechanical, not acoustic.

@Ozarka If the TV is plugged in, the speakers can be making noise. A defective part could be allowing electricity to make its way to the speakers and make the sound.

The noise is 100% exactly as the noise the TV make as when you turns off.

Here's a test. After watching the TV to ensure it's warm, turn off and unplug the TV. If there is cooling down sound, I'll bet that it stops quickly.

I connected a hard drive to one of the TV's USB ports, and I noticed that the light on the drive turns on and off in sync with the popping noise coming from the TV. Also, if it were just a speaker issue, the popping sound wouldn't still be happening, especially when the TV is supposedly off. It seems like the TV doesn't fully power down, even when left off overnight.

The TV doesn't completely power off unless you unplug it.

Did you run the test I suggested? I think you have a power supply problem.

I ran that test before posting the original message, and of course the popping sound was gone. Whether it was a speaker issue (which it wasn't) or a power failure, unplugging the TV would naturally stop any noise.

Correct. What it wouldn't affect is cool down noise. So that is eliminated.

Time to contact support and have the TV evaluated.
