I just bought a Samsung smart TV and connected it to my new Verizon cable box, but I can't figure out how to get from the home screen to my cable TV. There's no link. Nothing. A couple times, I've somehow gotten to cable TV just by flailing around, so I know the cable connection is good, but if I ever leave it (e.g., to use an app), there's no way back. The "Live" links on the home screen all go to "Samsung TV+", which is not what I want. How do I get from the home screen to my Verizon cable TV??? This is driving me crazy. How is there not a link for something this obvious?

Well, apparently I can use the microphone and say, "Switch to HDMI 1." Better than nothing.

Is there an "input" button on the remote? or an input icon on your screen?  If there is, just hit it until you get to the input you want (i.e.HDMI1, if your cable box is connected via HDMI, antenna, cable or coax).

Yes and no. There is a "Recent" box on the top row of the home screen, which shows the last thing I tuned to. If that was my cable TV, then it shows the last channel I watched, with audio. But if that was something else, like an app, it shows that. In either case, I can click on that box to go to that last thing. The Samsung remote is very bare bones and has no input button. The input button on my Verizon remote takes me to the device settings menu. I just let it ponder the HDMI device setting, and it added an "HDMI" icon to my apps list. That appears to take me to my cable TV. I guess that will work, although this all seems rather roundabout.

In my experience, TVs with multiple input sources always have an input button for easy switching.  It's usually on the remote, but on the smart TVs may be in the settings  (which doesn't make for easy switching).  It may not say "input", it may say "source" or, as in the case of my remote, has a symbol that looks like the photo.  It is usually in the top left or right corner, whichever is opposite the power button.

The Samsung solar cell remotes don't have a source/input button. It was an incredibly stupid decision

Is there anything in the tv settings to keep it in HDMI 1? On my Sanyo TV, I had to go into the settings and specifically choose HDMI 1 as the startup input. My cheapo LG will only start up on the antenna input, so all I got was static until I bought the world's cheapest antenna just to get a channel it would start up on. I didn't fuss too much with the settings, though, since that's my guest TV and my guests are very few and far between.

Well, a TV remote certainly should have an input button, but my remote has nothing that could possibly be one. It's surprisingly bare bones, very few buttons. Not like my old Verizon remote, with dozens. Both the old and new Verizon remotes have obvious input buttons. I assume Samsung's designer was going for some clever, minimalist design at the expense of usability. At this point I appear to have two workarounds, so I should be OK. Thanks for the responses in any case.

I think we have different remotes. There is no "source" option on mine. Mine looks like the image BruZZi posted in his comment.
