LED and OLED TVsIt is also very possible that the black screen has absolutely nothing to do with you opening the YouTube app, and that your TV screen picked that moment to die. Not saying that this is the case, but it's possible.
As far as trying to see if YouTube was the culprit and backing out of the app with a black screen, you might try continually pressing the exit key on the remote to try to exit out of the app. Or, if your remote is one of those with pre-set app keys for Netflix, Amazon, etc. you can try switching to those apps. If that does not work, your screen is toast. You should see about calling in a repair service.
