Home TheaterHi, I bought a HW-Q990C soundbar and since the beginning I have troubles with it.
On regular basis, generally after few minutes, I have a disconnection of the subwoofer and sometimes also rear speakers. It is really annoying and dispointing with a product at this price.
I tried everything possible I think with my personnal wifi.
I split my wifi cards on 2,4 Ghz and 5 Ghz and set the soundbar on 2.4 Ghz. no change (I tried also on 5 ghz no change neither)
I tried to give a fixed IP to the soundbar, no change. I tried to set specific canal to my wifi, no change...
My router is not near the soundbar. Subwoofer is really near the soundbar (50 cm)
Soundbar was already delivered with latest firmware 1004
...
I read on some forums that on some soundbars, the internal wireless wifi channel can be changed.
Is it possible on the HW-Q990C ? As it could maybe help. I didn't find anything on the subject.
If so can you please tell me how to proceed ?
Thx
I will probably be a last attempt for me , as I really believe now that my soundbar has an issue.
Sound is really good when it works but unfortunately, for me after few minutes, subwoofer is off so bass are off and so music and sound are really bad. More than this, when subwoofer is disconnected, you can then ear the subwoofer's membrane vibrates and you can hear a really awful noise

Home TheaterI tried that also without success.
But I read that on some samsung soundbar such 950 series for example you can set the internal wifi channel used to link soundbar subwoofer and rears.
No such setting available on HW-Q990C ?
"
. With the power of the Soundbar on, vertically press and hold the WOOFER button on the remote controller for at least 5 seconds. • The display shows “W-CH” and the currently set radio frequency channel.
. It doesn’t work when the display is off. Please turn on the display first by pressing the button on the remote controller.
• Please press the WOOFER button vertically"

Home TheaterAfter a few minutes of use, my subwoofer and sometimes the rear speakers disconnect. This is extremely frustrating, especially given the price of the soundbar.
Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
Wi-Fi Configuration:
- Split my Wi-Fi into 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands and set the soundbar to 2.4 GHz (also tried 5 GHz).
- Gave the soundbar a fixed IP.
- Set specific channels on my Wi-Fi.
- None of these changes resolved the issue.
Setup Details:
- My router is not near the soundbar.
- The subwoofer is very close to the soundbar (about 50 cm).
- The soundbar came with the latest firmware (1004).
Despite all these attempts, the problem persists. I've read on some forums that on some soundbars, the internal wireless channel can be changed to avoid interference.
My questions:
- Is it possible to change the internal wireless channel on the HW-Q990C? If so, how can I do it?
- Is there anything else I can try to resolve this issue?
I’m really at my wit’s end with this. The sound quality is excellent when it works, but the frequent disconnections make it unusable. Additionally, when the subwoofer disconnects, its membrane vibrates, causing an awful noise.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. This is likely my last attempt to fix it before considering a return or exchange.
Thanks!

Home TheaterHello! Thank you for reaching out! Unfortunately, there is no Samsung way to change the channel on the device itself. There may be unofficial ways out there but I'm not 100% sure about that. You can try to change the channel on your router itself and change the channel of the band the device is connected to, to have less interference. This may help with your issues. Also, the soundbar may have issues connecting to the 5Ghz band and will work better on the 2.4Ghz band.
If none of this helps this will be something that will require service. Depending on your warranty you will have a couple of options.
- If your device was recently purchased, you can check with your retailer on their return/exchange processes.
- If you have an extended warranty you can reach out to them to have service processed.
- If you're within the one year warranty, you can Private message me or one of our moderators or you can call in directly at 1-800- 726-7864 with your full model and serial number to have service setup
- If you're OUT of warranty, for depot type products (Soundbars, Home Theater Systems, tablets, ect.) that require to be shipped we recommend you speak with our depot team for pricing and to have the service set up: 1-310-669-4334.
