Galaxy WatchI just bought a new Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 after swapping from GW6. Besides time keeping, my primary use for the watch is sleep monitoring and measuring to support my heart therapy. When I use the sleep app it starts correctly, in accordance with its mode setup, but when I wake and stop the sleep app by tapping on the screen, I see the total time for sleep, but the rotating stars showing that the app is working, never stop. If I go ahead and click on the "send to phone" button, the data is transferred to the phone (Samsung A32) and all the data looks proper.
I am concerned that I will not be able to start up the app the next night as long as the previous night's action is still sitting there spinning those little stars around and around. I solved the previous night's same issue bu finally doing a reset, but the work to get everything resetup the next day is just too much. I need to be able to shut off the sleep app or clear its cache, or whatever, though after spending over $300 I really expect a better operating system. Not getting this fixed will result in a return of this watch before the return period runs out.
Overall I love the watch, but this one problem that affects my highest priority usage will kill this deal. Please, if anyone has any suggestions please respond.
NOTE: I have gone through virtually all of the published recommendations for setup parameters and have implemented all that apply. Power saving is OFF. Communication with Phone is setup and working. etc. etc etc.
Thanks for your assistance.

Galaxy WatchI need to open the app on my phone and have the syncing of Samung Health complete between watch and phone.
The results will show on the phone, and then it is finally viewable with all updated info on the watch.
It takes almost 20 minutes to complete this process. (Sorry, I will get up 20 minutes earlier every day just to complete this task.)
Never had this issue before.
And yes, I have cleared both phone and watch caches, and all apps are current, as are the software.

Galaxy WatchUpdate: I went through 3 different resets of the phone. The first 2 did nothing to fix the issue, though each time there is a reset you have to answer the long list of questions about how you want the watch to be setup, and not knowing the actual effect of each question it is possible to keep right on setting the wrong setups.
On the 3rd reset I just left everything as whatever the default answer to each question was. I was worried that this would create a power drain issue, but did it anyway. The result was that last night's sleep record moved over to the phone just fine (almost) and the sleep app, after just a minute or so, ended as it should. However, when I checked out the phone (Samsung A32) I noticed that the phone was not showing any data, just a button to load data. Clicking the buttron did nothing. So, I shut down the Health app on my phone and then opened it up again, and VOILA!, the data was all there and looking good.
As for waiting for 20 minutes as a possible solution, in my case I let the watch sit there for 48 hours, but it still showed the circling icon indicating it wasn't done yet. However, I did make sure that the battery saving mode was NOT on (that was said by some was not allowed for sleep app), and made sure none of the sleep app or mode was changed from the defaults during setup. Amazingly, I actually saw less battery useage last night than I have seen in the first few days I used the new watch. Lots of mysteries with the Galaxy 8, apparently several still needing work to get them fixed.
No watch should be so touchy about setup, especially for non-techy purchasers (I am a "career techy guy" and willing to experiment and trouble shoot, but most are not and will end up returning watches or at least bad mouthing them when something like this occurs). Many of the digital companies I have worked for over the years often push products out before adequately finishing qualification testing, and this turns that task and all its problems over to the purchaser to deal with. It is a bad policy, but driven by the guys in accounting most of the time. Nature of the beast. They all do it. 😐

Galaxy WatchIf you are tapping the sleep tile on your watch, this is normal behavior. It takes a while to sync with the phone, you can tap it again and it should stop and show you the stats. If you open the app instead of tapping the tile, you will get the same type of sync notification while the watch data transfers to the phone. This is because it does not go directly to the phone, it goes to the cloud for syncing and then to the phone. The watch and the phone both sync to your Samsung account, so whenever you open a synced app on one, there may be a delay while the data syncs to the other. You have nothing to worry about. The actual best thing to do is not to open the sleep stats immediately after waking up and turning off sleep mode.

Galaxy WatchWith all due respect, the original complaint was that the sleep app NEVER shut down, even after a 48 hour wait, after the data was sent to the cloud for xfer to the phone. The data has always transferred to the phone OK. Again, the app simply did not shut down after the data was sent. With the app still active the next night, the sleep measure process couldn't start. No amount of tapping of the icon did anything, including stop the app. Even Resetting didn't work until I finally decided to reinstall without changing any of the default answers to the setup question routines.
As I mentioned earlier in my previous update, After resetting 3 times and finally installing only the default setup parameters, I finally got the problem solved. I still do not know which of the setup parameters that I installed in earlier resets caused the hanging problem, but now it works and unless battery usage or some other issue leads to an issue I will not do any more changes to setup.
By the way, my previous Galaxy watch 6 appears to transfer data directly to my phone, not to a cloud server, because when I sent the data to my phone it awakes immediately and shows me the data with no delay whatever. With Galaxy Watch 8 not sure what benefit there is in transferring the data half way around the world to a cloud data center before transferring it to my phone. Delays like this offer absolutely no benefit to me, the user, the customer. Keep it simple guys!

Galaxy WatchAnother Update: After a couple of days of the system working OK after the reset talked about before, I did change some parameters that did not seem to have any relationship with the sleep app, and once again the sleep app refuses to shut down, even after many many hours. I did another complete reset, without using past data reload, and now the system is working again. No power saving, and basically no further changes to the basic setup. I will see what happens tomorrow morning. Hopefully the app will turn off by itself, but we'll see. Sure would be nice if someone at Samsung could list the mods to the setup that could cause the sleep app to fail.
