I'm trying to run trials of the Watch 6 Classic v. the 5 Pro to see which is optimal. I much prefer the slightly larger display of the 6 but I cannot understand how a good sized battery (420 mah) would get so much less battery life than the 5 Pro (590 mah). With about 30% more, I'd have expected the new processor to be within 30% of the 5 Pro's battery life, which I'll easily get into the third day. With the 6 Classic, I seem to be barely getting into the second day, which is more like just 50%. I've tried to compare the settings to make them equal and I'm wondering whether I've overlooked some new setting on the 6 Classic that is leading to this unexpected result.

An interesting tip. I experimented a little and now get 2.5 days of usage out of the battery but it comes with usage limitations that work for me. 

1. Turn off AOD. Never understood the always on display which seems extremely wasteful if you don't look at a watch 98+% of the time.

2. Turn off animations in developer settings. I haven't missed them. Don't know how much impact they were having but often this is a cited cause so I went to the max.

3. Turn off raise arm to turn on. This one is not ideal because I used to use it to tilt my wrist to see the time without having to press buttons or touch the screen, which I do now. I'm debating turning this back on since it seems to get better and the new One UI may be helping doing the trick.

4. Turn off the excessive Samsung health notifications. I don't need to get goal highlights at midnight or most of the time.

5. Lower the brightness to the lowest reasonable level that impacts your day without compromising your enjoyment of the watch.

6.  Turn off WiFi. Didn't realize this could be a big one. As my phone is nearby most of the time and there is a need for notifications, Bluetooth is the priority. 

With this setup I don't have a concern about getting at least 24 hours, which is ideal, still haveing 8-10 hours left as buffer after a full two days. Before this I was getting 1.5 and it was close.  It's not always ideal but if you have a lifestyle where these things may not seriously impact your use of the watch, you'll be pretty good and it will still keep health tracking, weather, etc.
