Issues with One UI on S25 Ultra:

Never seen a modern mobile OS without basic app lock & settings lock until this phone.
Secure Folder is NOT a replacement:
Apps reset like fresh installs Have to re-login and re-setup everything Breaks normal daily usage
Android Auto issue: I never added it to Secure Folder Still caused weird behavior/connectivity problems

Notification privacy is a mess: When the phone is unlocked, it shows full notification content No option to hide sensitive info (emails, messages, OTPs)

Others (iPhone, OnePlus) let you show only app name, Older One UI versions had this option โ€” why remove it?

EDITED version so that Samsung lovers can understand ๐Ÿ˜‚

1. Not sure how you've never seen a phone without native app locking unless you are very young and/or new to smartphones. Native app locking/private space is still relatively new to both ios and android.

Secure Folder is Samsung's implementation of a seperate, locked space for apps and is generally considered more secure because of Knox. If you have an issue with the reduced timeout, send feedback.

If you need a settings lock, you can download a third party app such as Stay Focused. Most major manufacturers do not offer a native settings app lock.

2. This setting was not removed. Currently running UI8.0/Android 16. See attached screenshot.

Settings > Notifications > Hide Content When Locked

You can also enable Notification categories for more granular control1765125307938.jpg

Hi there, thanks for your response. I edited my post as per the other person's suggestion in the comments

Other Phone manufacturers such as iPhone and OnePlus, even pixel(if i remember correctly-i used it only for a few months) have app locks in them, and they allow the user to choose between show the content or hide the notification content when unlocked. I looked for something similar in Samsung and I did find it on the older One UI versions of the S series

Yes, and these are still relatively new features. iOS introduced app locking and Pixel officially introduced private space just last year (2024.)

Samsung has chosen to isolate app locking to secure folder because doing so gives you the additional protection of Knox.

Yes, it is somewhat less convenient, but you have the benefit of physical separation for the secure folder. There are multi-layered hardware and software safeguards in place to protect your data, above and beyond what other manufacturers offer.

Notification hiding was never removed. It is still present in the latest version of One UI.
