I have a Samsung 25, and I want to connect it to USB to backup files/photos etc. When I connect the phone to the laptop via USB, the file transfer option doesn't come up. The phone does start charging.
I was able to back up my previous Samsung phone with this laptop and connector. I tried multiple USB connectors and also tried connecting to my desktop. There is no option for file transfer that comes up. I tried restarting the phone, turning on developer options, but nothing works.
Thanks!

Galaxy S25If that doesn't help, trying cleaning out your port. If it still isn't working you might need to have your port evaluated to see if there is a broken pin or corrosion.
I had a corroded port in my S25U and was i only able to slow charge

Galaxy S25Dollars to donuts it's the same problem I had when you taught me what I had to do to make my computer see the phone - Use a USB-C port or OTG adapter and the cable that came with the phone. They may also have to turn developer options on and set the default USB configuration.

Galaxy S25They did it with their old phone, not the new one. Could be the hardware, could be they forgot to turn on a particular setting. They may actually have to enable developer options and choose the default action for the USB connection as file transfer.

I ended up taking it to Best Buy, and they were able to get it to do file transfer with a different cable. I don't know why the cable I had previously only works with the older Samsung and not the new one, but it looks like the case
Thanks all!

Galaxy S25The older cable was likely of a lower wattage rating than the phone needs. It is recommended that you use either the cable that came with the phone (I believe I mentioned that in my previous comment), or a cable with a minimum rating of 25 watts. Anyway, glad you solved your issue.
