I have a Samsung 25, and I want to connect it to USB to backup files/photos etc. When I connect the phone to the laptop via USB, the file transfer option doesn't come up. The phone does start charging.

I was able to back up my previous Samsung phone with this laptop and connector. I tried multiple USB connectors and also tried connecting to my desktop. There is no option for file transfer that comes up. I tried restarting the phone, turning on developer options, but nothing works.

Thanks!

That didn't work. I don't think it is a port problem because it charges fine (fast and regular).

Download Smart Switch and use that to back up your stuff. Just do custom

I don't want to do that. I want to cut and paste my photos from the phone to clear up space with out having to transfer everything and then manually go back and delete stuff.

I just got to desktop, look for my phone, open internal storage, DCMI folder and copy want I want to copy if I go that route. I usually just store them on my portable 4TB SSD drive that connect to my phone.

Does it work if you transfer the photos to a flash drive and then from the flash drive to the computer? That may be one way to do it, until you can figure it out. If your computer has BT, you can try connecting via BT and see if Windows file manager sees the phone. Lastly, I have always had luck transferring files via wifi using the Asus File manager app. I used to do this before I could connect via USB, and still do occasionally. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.asus.filemanager

You connect via wifi through a web browser. After you install and open it, select PC file transfer, emter the provided IP address in your computer browser, select your files and transfer. Don't worry that it hasn't been updated, it still works.
