Howdy!

Received my new S25 Ultra yesterday, set it up via SmartSwitch. Everything transferred correctly but none of my notifications are working.

Zero.

I have gone though forum postings that other people have posted looking for solutions and most of those has been DND or a routine turned on blocking notifications.

Things I've checked:

  • Do Not Disturb is TURNED OFF.
  • No Modes or Routines are running (there aren't any setup).
  • Sound is on.
  • Vibrate is on.
  • No icons or app badges show up on the top.
  • The apps that I am testing with I have confirmed that notifications are turned on.
  • All the options are selected for the notification options (Lock Screen, App icon badge, Notification pop-up).
  • This happens if the phone is sleeping or awake.
  • My old phone is still using Wi-Fi and notifications work fine on that one (other than messages and phone cause that's tied to the SIM). Turning off the old phone and waiting a few minutes and trying on the new phone, same thing happens.
  • If I open the offending app, I can see the unread messages.
Other than wiping the phone, skipping the SmartSwitch and starting from scratch, I am not sure how to move forward.

Thanks.

For about a week I could not get my Samsung message app to show me my messages at the top of my status bar. It took me so long to figure out too long press their name inside the actual message app and it's ,opposite to me anyway, turning my notifications on and off. The little bell at the was kind of deceiving turning my notifications on and off. I messed with all of the settings and options and all I had to do was loan quick their name and turn my notifications on I had to select all of my conversations to I guess turning the notifications on.

It was very hard to follow your round and round, no punctuation post, but you did not need to through all that. All you had to do was turn notification categories on. Settings/notifications/advanced settings/manage notification categories for each app. The go to your messaging app settings, tap on notifications, then tap on categories and make sure allow notifications is turned on, then make sure new messages or incoming messages (depending on which app you are using) is also on, tap that category and select the sound you want. To set a different sound for different conversations, open the conversation you want to change the sound for, tap the menu, select details and then select notifications and choose the sound for that conversation.

Just want to say that I've kept the handset. I've stopped using Doze Stopper as it doesn't always work.

The adb shell dumpsys deviceidle disable command is working perfectly though.

Shame it needs to be done on every reboot, but it is what it is.

Really wish they just out a switch in the settings to disable deviceidle though.

I thought it would kill battery life but I still had 70% battery left after 12 hours of light to moderate usage.

Guys,

Did anyone try a hard reset and skip the Smart Switch restore afterwards? I remember a couple of users mentioned here that that didn't work, but since then, two firmware updates have arrived...

I am thinking of resetting the phone.

Hey Dan.

No. I saw that Squeaky369 did so and the issue persisted so I didn't try.  See his post from jan 31, he did a factory reset, skipped smartswitch and didnt restore from a backup.

Do let us know if you try it and it works though.

Thanks, but hmm...

I didn't find his post where he said he actually did a hard reset. He did reset settings and said he was going to go ahead with a factory reset, but then there were no updates.

Am I missing something? ๐Ÿ™‚

PS: I found it: https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Galaxy-S25/New-S25-Ultra-Notifications-not-working/m-p/3127118/h...

But he has been silent since 11 February, which seems like a good sign ๐Ÿ™‚

I too am facing the same issue. Do all s25 ultra users face the same issue or should i try to get my device replaced?

Same issue with no notifications on S25+, including the lock screen, making the phone unusable to me. 3 days of messing around with no results.

I'll give it another try before sending the phone back to Samsung.

just to note. I've been talking to samsung engineer and Vodafone shop. Both said it was a software issue and a replacement handset wouldn't solve the issues. I'm unsure of that.

I used doze stopper for a while but it doesn't always work for everything. Currently I'm using the adb command to disable deviceidle and that has been working perfectly but I don't like having to keep USB debugging on as that is a security risk if the phone is stolen.

Vodafone have given me another week to decide if the handset needs to be replaced.

What gives me pause is that the OP wiped his device, skipped smarswitch and observed the same issues.

So, guys, I did a hard reset a few days ago.

No luck.

The doze mode is to blame. What is also interesting is that the device doesn't go asleep when it's connected to a charger (well, not so surprising, but still)...

So, there are two solutions: the adb workaround and keeping the phone connected to a charger.

Thank you, Samsung! ๐Ÿ˜ž
