This morning my Samsung Galaxy s25 automatically updated to UI 8.0, right now seems like my side button cannot mute my phone only can turn on the volume or vibration

Anybody has the same issue and why it's like this?

Give it a try first would be my suggestion. If that solves the issue, then that would be faster and more efficient than going the way that may not produce the desired result. I hope it works out in the end.

Seeing the same thing and extremely upset about it. Might as well just use my work iPhone now, that's one of the things I hate most about iOS and now we are the exact same with Samsung.

I hate installing more stuff and working around it but was able to install Goodlock and routines+ then write a routine that puts it in silent when the phone is in vibrate and you double tap the volume down.

OK.  So, you are telling me you never download any apps to your phone - it is exactly as it is when it came from the factory?  Modes & Routines and Good Lock exist for the precise reason of being able to customize your Samsung experience.  If you want your phone to do something it does not natively do, or the native action was changed or removed, you have the option to bring it back in most instances.  It's not a "workaround", it's a customization.  Also, workarounds are solutions if it accomplishes what you want/need it to.  You only need to download Routines+ if you want to enable the button action.  A similar mode or routine could be accomplished by creating it without the button action and putting a widget on your screen with said routine or mode to activate it.

This is the most apple logic I've ever heard. Samsung took away a feature that has existed for many generations and now I have to WORKAROUND that feature loss by installing something. By the way how many users elderly are going to take the time to figure out how to solution this. Ain't gonna happen brotha. Stop being a sheep for a company that doesn't care about you and hold them accountable.

First of all, there is nothing wrong with the phone vibrating.  The vibration is so negligible as to be imperceptible. What you call a workaround is a solution.  You always have the ability to mute your phone without vibration by going to the sound panel - so, big deal, you have to make an extra swipe and tap, who in the world is that busy?  It is not necessary to download any additional app to create a routine that will automatically mute your phone without vibration, as modes and routines is native to the phone settings.  There is already a preconfigured mode called "sleep mode", which mutes the phone, turns on do not disturb and anything else you want to add to it.  Once again, no additional downloads necessary. You only have to download Routines+ if you want to add the button action.  You can also go to settings/sounds and vibration/vibration  intensity and turn the vibration down to zero.  That way, when you use your beloved volume down action, your phone will not vibrate.

I am sure you have a boatload of apps on your phone that do stuff that your phone's OS does not do.  About your condescending comment that the elderly are too befuddled to figure this out - just stop right there.  Those older people are smart enough to ask or search.  You found your way here, didn't you? Anyone switching from ANY other android phone to Samsung will have a learning curve with all the settings and customizations they can do.

The bottom line is that the phone is natively able to be muted, even if it's not by the method you are used to. Adaptability is a gift.

What in tarnation is "Apple logic"?

Thanks for the tip! But to me, this feels like something thatโ€™s already built into how we existโ€”it doesnโ€™t seem like an extra step at all.

Just go to settings and turn the vibration intensity down to zero and then you don't need to take any extra steps, just continue muting the way you've been doing
