Can't mute my phone anymore after One ui 8 update

This morning my Samsung Galaxy s25 automatically updated to UI 8.0, right now seems like my side button cannot mute my phone only can turn on the volume or vibration

Anybody has the same issue and why it's like this?

I was using that feature several times a day, before I was quickly tapping down button and now you say I have to go to the menu and look for it every time? And you're saying it's not a big deal, like seriously? Why would you remove something that works perfectly?

Yes, that is what I meant, it should be existing as before....idk why they think it is a "big deal" to remove it, it just seems so weird to me.

I'm sorry you consider being told how to ameliorate your problem is argumentative.  There are much, much, much worse problems in this world than a feature being changed on a phone.

Thank you all for the tips! I've been using Samsung for years, but I never knew there was a group like this where we could share and talk. I just stumbled upon it while Googling a question, and honestly—it really touched me. It’s so interesting to see everyone’s insights. I think I’ll be spending more time here from now on!

Very frustrated, I get home very late, when I get in bed I always use volume down key until it completely mutes (including no vibrate)  after the update this is no longer the case, now have to open the sound panel and click mute, seems ridiculous to remove the feature

When you go to bed, use sleep mode. Or, utilize some of the other solutions provided.  If you want to continue to use the familiar volume down action either a) create the routine I provided earlier in this thread or, b) go to settings/sounds and vibration/vibration intensity and turn the intensity down.  You will not feel or hear it vibrate against your nightstand surface.
