Blocking spam calls

I enabled the block unknown callers on my phone app settings. I don't have the option to block ID and spam calls on my galaxy s25 ultra. I still get spam calls. How do I stop them? Do I have to download an app?

Most carriers have their own app to help with spam calls. For instance, At&t has the"activearmor" app. There are also numerous spam control apps on Google Play or Galaxy Store to choose from.

Block unknown numbers means if a call shows up as private or no caller id i.e number withheld you will need a call filter app as mentioned by @MrGhoul or another

Each carrier usually has some sort of app that keeps track of spam numbers, and lets users report and block them. And it's usually installed on your phone by default. For me, it's in my 'Verizon' folder, and it's called Call Filter. If you don't have the Verizon Mobile Protect Plan, it's an additional subscription, but if you are, it comes in that subscription. For me, it's been pretty helpful. You can definitely report unwanted texts to 7726 (that spells 'SPAM' on a phone keypad) and forward texts to that number. It'll ask you for the number, and your carrier will keep a note of it. But for automatic blocking of spam calls, it's best to use your carrier's blocking app.

I wish the call blocking also blocked voicemail from appearing without a call attached to it. So sick of telemarketers sending ghost voicemail.
