One of the things that had really bugged me is the difficulty of finding my images whentrying to send to others through various apps. I think the issue boils down to too many photo/ image locations.

On iPhone I never had an issue locating a photo to attach somewhere else. On one UI I get lost in folders trying to find an image. I get to the point where I give up.

I was thinking it might have to do with the fact there is the gallery app and a photos app. Is there a way to delete the gallery app from Samsung and just use Google Photo app? I really dont like the Gallery app and think its unnecessarily junk on my phone. Just like their browser, their messages, their TV app. Honestly, why did they load all this cr*ppy bloatware on these phones anyway?

Sorry but no it canโ€™t be disabled or uninstalled since itโ€™s a feature built into the OS

Yes, you just have to consider that any ramifications from it making a possible inconvenience to an actual issue. It is safe and can be reversed. I do not know if there are any specific core functions that are used that may make other apps/functions not operate correctly if it is disabled.

The photos app is basically the backup folder to your Gallery.  Your photos backup to Google by default.  If you do not want them backing up to Google, you must specifically go into the settings and disable it.  Then you are on your own for backing up your photos.  The gallery, as @GaryB82 cannot be uninstalled or disabled.  If you cannot navigate your photos, it's because you either have too many albums or no albums.  There is also a search feature, although I don't use it because I don't keep enough photos on my device to have to search - I know which album they are in.  Some apps will allow you to pull your photos from the gallery or cloud storage (One Drive, Google Photos, Amazon photos), many will not.  Google Messages will allow you to access your photos in Google cloud services, Facebook Messenger will allow you to select your Gallery, One Drive or Google, and I believe external media storage.  I don't know what Samsung Messages allows, I would assume only Gallery photos.  What an app allows you to access is whatever the app's programming allows.

After more then 20+ years im switching from samsung to an IPhone. I can't believe im saying this. But for me, I just want my phone to do phone things. If I buy a phone for its camera and I take a picture, I expect to see the picture I took and not an edit. And the fact they edit it just defeats the purpose of even buying the phone for its camera. I do still think Samsung has better things to offer with a phone. But seeing the new iPhone 17 at 800/900 with better specs for cameras without editing my photos? Yeah im going to have to jump of samsung.
