Today in the Samsung Galaxy store, I received an update for the Samsung Messaging app, after updating the application, I noticed that rcs was enabled and i confirmed that it was working for Verizon.
This is great news it's a lot more customizable than Google messages and actually changes the font to your system font.
Chat features are available and you can see when someone is typing!
Thought this might be helpful

What version of Samsung Messages are you running?

Do you have a Verizon branded phone or unlock from Samsung?

When it comes to customization no app comes close to textra. Of course it doesn't support rcs. I can live with that.

I agree with you. Not really a whole lot that you can customize on samsun messaging but it's more than Google offers. And I enjoy using chat features

And the same developers make chomp and it's even more customizable than Textra which I used for a long time

Note Samsung now uses Google messenger as it's own. They have discontinued theirs. Rcc chat should have been available from launch. Or at least it have been on my s25ultra with Verizon.

I never said it was unavailable. Samsung is discontinuing support for RCS on their native messaging app, Samsung Messages, and shifting focus to Google Messages. This means that Samsung Messages will no longer be pre-installed on future Samsung devices, and RCS support will be dropped on existing Samsung Messages users by January 6, 2025. Users are encouraged to switch to Google Messages.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

No pre-installation:

Samsung is phasing out Samsung Messages as the default messaging app on new devices. Instead, Google Messages will be pre-installed.

RCS support ending:

Samsung will no longer support Rich Communication Services (RCS) in their native messaging app, starting January 6, 2025.

Google Messages as the focus:

Samsung is encouraging users to switch to Google Messages for a better and more robust messaging experience.

Samsung Messages available for download:

While Samsung Messages will not be pre-installed, it will still be available for download from the Galaxy Store, but it will be limited to SMS/MMS features.

Reason for the shift:

Samsung's decision is likely driven by the growing reliance on Google Messages as the de facto messaging platform for Android devices, particularly with its broader support for RCS features.
