Hi, I'd like to have all notification sounds silenced on my Galaxy S24 when I'm wearing my Galaxy Watch 4.  This worked perfectly on my old S9, but since moving to an S24, notifications oftentimes sound on the S24 in addition to showing up on the watch.

I would have thought enabling the setting in Galaxy Wearable app > Watch Settings > Notifications > Mute notifications on phone would be the solution for this issue, but unfortunately turning this setting on does not resolve the problem.  I've tried turning it off and back on again, but that still didn't help.

Please let me know if there's any way to work around this bug.  I'm on Android 15 and One UI 7.0.  Thanks!

When you say "mute notifications on phone" do you mean you don't want them to appear there at all, or you just don't want them to make a sound?  If it's the latter, just make your default notification sound "silent" and all sounds for notifications will be eliminated (except for apps where you set a custom tone).  However, your notifications will still appear on your phone.  When you dismiss them on your watch, they will be dismissed from the phone.

However, I believe just turning on the mute notifications settings, should be sufficient.  Have you turned it on and notifications are getting past it?  I believe that the "mute notifications on phone settings" is only to keep them from making a sound, not to not have them appear there.  If it's not working the way it should, put in an error report. https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Tips-Tricks/How-to-Send-Feedback/ba-p/3001692

Hi, @realaud, I would like the notifications to still be shown on the phone, but not make a sound.  If I set the notification sound to "silent", though, then they won't make a sound when I'm not wearing my watch.  I only want the notification sounds silenced when I'm wearing my watch; otherwise, they need to make a sound.

Thanks for the bug reporting link.  I'm not a Samsung Member and I don't have that app.  I saw the video in the comments that bugs can be reported through the Wearable app, but the instructions don't match my version and I didn't see a way to do it in my version.

If you are able to post in this app, you are a "member". You are one by virtue of having a Samsung account.

Ah, thanks. I thought it was something more because I didn't recall ever seeing that terminology before.  Thanks for the help with a routine.  I'll keep an eye out for it!

OK.  Here's what you would do.  Keep the notification sound the way it is, but create this routine (settings/modes and routines/routines, tap the + on top to create new routine).  You can also create this as a mode that you can automate or turn on manually.  A manually activated mode might be better, if your watch is only off your wrist on the charger, but still connected to your phone. You can also activate the mode any time you want the notifications to sound on your phone, even if your watch is connected.  The routine will run automatically, but as I said, may not end if the watch is still connected even off your wrist.  The mode should be manually activated, and you can make this easy by either adding the single mode widget to your home screen, or tapping the modes icon in the quick panel.  So you would turn the mode on when you are wearing your watch to silence the notification sound, and off when not so your notification sounds will come to the phone..

Thanks! I've downloaded your screenshots and will look into setting up the routine tonight. I'm not too keen on having to manually switch it on and off, because I'll probably forget to do it a lot, but it sounds like the automatic switching won't work since the watch is always left on and connected to the phone when it's on the charger.

Once you get in the habit of switching on the mode, it becomes an automatic reflex: remove watch, turn on mode; put on watch turn off mode. You can look and see if there are other parameters that will make it easier to automate.

Do you usually charge your watch during certain hours?  You can always set the mode or routine to be active during a particular time period.  Or, are you one of those who wait until you get the "power save" warning?  If you have the modes synced with phone, you can turn the mode on/off from your watch.
