I bought a refurbished fully unlocked s24 but don't have one ui 7. I do not have a sim card yet and my settings are as follows.

Do i need a sim or am I having a problem?

The last update that your device was last year. You may need to insert a sim card to get all those updates and one ui 7.

Edit i had updated samsung phones before without uding sim card. Where did you purchased your device?

Try running diagnostics on any suspicious apps. If they are clear of malware, try inserting a SIM card.

Is it a real S24 Ultra? Can you add a pic of the phone?

Because its not a factory unlocked device. Yours is an unlocked branded device. Meaning, it came from a carrier, Therfor your updates still come from a carrier and will require a sim. Only devices factory unlocked and unbranded with model number ending in U1 get their updates from Samsung, no sim required. Your model number is s921U. (USA Carrier branded) 🖖🏻

Should be instant. Well granted the time it takes to download the updates. Depending on how out of date it is, it may have several updates to prepair for a major update or it may bring you completely up to date. You can still use wifi but youll need the sim card in there. Just keep updating till it finally says there are no more. 🖖🏻

It would have to be a SIM from the carrier who's firmware is on it, even if the SIM is not active. If you do not have a SIM from that carrier, once you register with another carrier and put the phone into service, your update should come, but it may take a day or two. If you are not ready yet to select a carrier and don't have an old SIM, perhaps you have a friend or relative you can borrow one from for a half hour.

If you have a computer, you can download Smart Switch for Windows, connect your phone to the computer and try to force an update. No carrier needed for that, the update would come from Samsung.
