I believe I posted something similar a while back, but can't find it.

I have hearing aids that connect to my phone.  As I type, those hearing aids are connected and working well.  At the same time I have a Samsung watch6 connected and working well.

My problem is, for months, on receiving a phone call, the audio came through the phone.  I could have my hearing aids turned on, but lying on a table and still here the audio through the phone.  Not any more.  Audio always comes through the hearing aids.  AFAIK, I've made no setting changes.

Widex, the manufacturer, claims there is no settings in their app to affect this. Has to be a S24 setting.

I know this.  When I get in my car and receive a phone call, the audio comes through the car speakers.  If I'm wearing a headset for music, the audio comes through the headset.  Somehow the phone can distinguish the source and provide audio from that source.  except, the hearing aids.  BTW, notifications come through the phone - not the hearing aids.

In the BT settings for the hearing aids, tap the gear setting next to the hearing aids and turn of the slider next to calls.  This should direct the calls through the phone.  That being said, I know many people with hearing aids who love the fact that the calls come through their aids, rather than having to hold the phone to their ear or use speaker.  If the voices are too loud in your aids, you can adjust the in-call volume.  If the  issue is the aids are connected, but out of  your ears, you can then adjust the call slider to off.

I have no slider for calls.  As a matter of fact, "Calls" is nowhere in Settings

Its not in settings. You have to tap the settings gear next to the hearing aids in the BT settings. Every connected device has these settings. You can only change the settings when connected

Sorry, not there.  Under Settings>Bluetooth>Hearing Aids>gear box, my choices are

Left Hearing Aid, Right Hearing Aid (both on/off), Adjust Volume separately, Left ear Volume slider, Right ear volume slider.

I use hearing aids for calls and love it. @realaud is correct in BT you have to click on Details at the bottom to bring up the gear icon. My hearing aids pair to the right one.

Maybe I misunderstand.

Under Settings>Bluetooth>Hearing Aids, I have no 'Details' at the bottom.  Gearbox is to the right of Hearing Aids.

I don't have hearing aids, so I guess the options may be different than for ear buds.  This is what I see on any of my ear gear (pic 1).

As I said, other than when the aids are out of your ears and sitting on the table, why wouldn't you want to take the calls through the aids? If the issue is that you cannot take take a call when the aids are out, you can just unpair them when you take them out and re-pair them.  You can create a custom mode (pic 2) to turn on either manually when the aids are out or, if you always want the sound to come out of the phone, do the following: (turn on manually) separate app sound: (choose app = phone), select phone for where the sound comes from.  (turn on automatically)  BT device connected = hearing aids. Separate app sound: (phone), select phone.
