Hi All
I've just got my S24+ today to upgrade my trusty but ageing S10+ having not strayed from Samsung for almost 10 years. Naturally I was hoping it would be an upgrade in all departments but although on the whole it is, there's several annoying and unexpected downgrades that are making me seriously question whether it's actually worth spending quite a bit of money to change.
Firstly, the screen although pin sharp is really washed out. Even in vivid mode the colours are dull and the blacks are significantly more grey than the S10 screen, and even look washed out when put alongside my wife's budget spec A52! I've played around with brightness and colour tone etc but I can't dial it out, and my cousin who's got an S24 Ultra said exactly the same when comparing it against the S22 it's replacing.
Then there's some bizarre features missing from OneUI 6.1, the ones I've noticed so far are specifically in the Always On Display settings. I use AOD to display as a bedside clock, with my S10 and also in OneUI 6.0 / Android 14 on the A52 you can rotate the AOD to landscape orientation and control the brightness, you could even do the latter from the AOD lock screen by tapping twice on the clock to access the brightness slider. In OneUI 6.1 unless I'm missing something it seems all that functionality is missing, the brightness of the AOD is linked to the main screen brightness setting which is far too bright for overnight use, and you can't set it to landscape mode which I'd prefer when on it's horizontal night stand next to the bed. Why this functionality would be omitted I have no idea, but it's really annoying! Please someone enlighten me to some hidden menu somewhere that fixes all these issues?! š

Galaxy S24Hello,
So you decided to ask ChatGPT to write a incredibly generic corpo response. Nice.
"We offer many advanced display settings"
Really? You serious? There is a toggle for Vivid and Natural, that's 2. There is practically NO difference between the two. On Vivid you can adjust the white balance which does NOTHING. Oh, and the RGB gain thing... Doesn't work... that's about what MANY "ADVANCED" display settings we have...
"display is carefully tuned for a comfortable, quality viewing experience"
For who? You? Your sister? Some random person? There is a well known fact about Samsung screens, they are a VIVID, lively, saturated and gives a wow factor at first glance. You know the first impression I got from the S24 on first glance? Confusion.
I have no doubt this is a software bug, since HDR works great for pictures and videos.
It would be nice to admit it's a bug. If Samsung really did this on purpose, then it's the dumbest thing I have seen in awhile.

Galaxy S24You are beginning to sound like Apple, telling us what's better.
Allow us to decide our own brightness or how vivid we would like our screens to be.

Galaxy S24What's the point in advertising 2600 nits, brightest screen yet, when at max brightness, with extra brightness turned on my fold 4 is still far brighter???
False advertising. Your explanation of comfortable viewing experience does not make sense. Allow us to adjust ourselves based on the technology on the phone we bought based on the samsung event.

Galaxy S24I am so glad I kept my s22 ultra, I was seriously considering the s24 plus. The reason people buy Samsung S phones are for the vivid screens that pop with color. If I want a washed out screen there are plenty of sub standard phones out there to purchase for under $400. If this is the direction Samsung is going in, this will be my last Samsung phone.

Galaxy S24Just received my S24 Ultra switching from my S22 Ultra. The colors on my 24 are seriously muted and washed out, very disappointed with the display. When I showed my brother my new phone (also a Samsung fan) that was the first thing he said. It is that obvious. Is this going to be fixed? From what I'm reading it sounds like Samsung did this on purpose and have no intention of fixing! If so I may be keeping my S22 Ultra and sending back my S24 Ultra.

Galaxy S24Comfortable, quality viewing experience? Instead of my display showing a red icon, it shows a pink icon. How does that make it more comfortable? It isn't a true color. Pictures and video are fine, but I want my very expensive phone to display the correct color at the correct temperature. If I feel that I want the color dimmed, that should be up to me. I've had this phone for 3 days now and on my way to return this phone until Samsung fixes the display. I also followed your advcanced display settings and none of them correct the color to the right one.

Galaxy S24I just bought a Galaxy s24+. I am truly shocked and disappointed in how bad the colors are on the display. It's like a gloomy cloudy green day. All my photos that I transfered from my S9 are dull grey greenish color. I have pics of a beautiful meadow of yellow mustard flowers. But the flowers look bright green while the leaves are a darker dingey green and the beautiful red barn isn't the fresh painted red that is naturally. But it is a dingey greyish green red. The golden hay looks like dirt.. I've played with all the color settings. Brightness and enhancements. Nothing has helped. Pictures of flowers all look dingey and dirty. Please tell me this isn't on purpose and there is a software fix coming. If not I'll be returning this phone very soon and most likely buying a pixel 8 or something else. I don't want to, but feel I haven't much choice. I don't want to be forced to except such terrible color. Also displays and pictures are very grainy. It's way too expensive to have this horrible of a issue. I spent the entire day transferring all my data and I'm so very disgusted with the quality of this device.
