Hi All
I've just got my S24+ today to upgrade my trusty but ageing S10+ having not strayed from Samsung for almost 10 years. Naturally I was hoping it would be an upgrade in all departments but although on the whole it is, there's several annoying and unexpected downgrades that are making me seriously question whether it's actually worth spending quite a bit of money to change.
Firstly, the screen although pin sharp is really washed out. Even in vivid mode the colours are dull and the blacks are significantly more grey than the S10 screen, and even look washed out when put alongside my wife's budget spec A52! I've played around with brightness and colour tone etc but I can't dial it out, and my cousin who's got an S24 Ultra said exactly the same when comparing it against the S22 it's replacing.
Then there's some bizarre features missing from OneUI 6.1, the ones I've noticed so far are specifically in the Always On Display settings. I use AOD to display as a bedside clock, with my S10 and also in OneUI 6.0 / Android 14 on the A52 you can rotate the AOD to landscape orientation and control the brightness, you could even do the latter from the AOD lock screen by tapping twice on the clock to access the brightness slider. In OneUI 6.1 unless I'm missing something it seems all that functionality is missing, the brightness of the AOD is linked to the main screen brightness setting which is far too bright for overnight use, and you can't set it to landscape mode which I'd prefer when on it's horizontal night stand next to the bed. Why this functionality would be omitted I have no idea, but it's really annoying! Please someone enlighten me to some hidden menu somewhere that fixes all these issues?! š

Galaxy S24I am excited to use my S10+ because the device is vibrant and alive with color I feel the exact opposite when using my S24 Ultra it so lifeless it literally makes me sad so I don't use it. I have 14 days remaining on my return policy and if nothing changes or an announcement is released I will return this $1400 drab device back to Samsung.
Respectfully, Lifelong Samsung customer.

Galaxy S24This is trolling, right? Please tell me Samsung is trolling.
User complain about brightness and broken vivid/Natural setting.
Samsung responds with a comment mentioning how to change brightness and switch vivid and Natural modes.
I mean that exact same feature is BROKEN.

Galaxy S24This issue is NOT resolved. Make Vivid mode vivid like it's supposed to be. I am returning my S24 Ultra because you guys are ignoring your customers. It's not up to you to tell us what "comfortable" is.
You've had Vivid mode for years and Vivid mode does absolutely nothing. The colors looked dull, washed out. When is the software fix coming.
ANOTHER FAIL FOR SAMSUNG!

Galaxy S24Wrong answer, Samsung. This needs to be fixed ASAP. Don't give us that story this was on purpose. I didn't order a phone with 50 shades of grey. Who designed this? Colorblind techs? Gimme a break! This needs to be fixed pronto.

Galaxy S24Carefully tuned?? Is this supposed to be a joke or? Washed out color reproduction is carefully tuned they say...how about letting me choose if I want your "carefully tuned" setting or the vivid mode since I am paying for this phone? Grey is the new black, orange is the new red..? you are calling this carefully tuned? by whom may I ask, colorblind techies?

Galaxy S24I upgraded from the S20 to the S24, and mine is washed out as well. I have adjusted all the display settings as much as I can, and it's still looks worse than my S20. I have owned Galaxy phones from the S1, S3, S5, S7, S20 and now the S24, and I've never had a bad experience with the display till now. Please, please, please send an update to the phone that gives us the option to have the same display experience as the prior phones. If you send a display update, those who like the washed out display can keep that, and those that don't can use the update and have the display experience we expected. I will not be a satisfied customer until this change are made.

Galaxy S24I wish this feature regression in removal of Vivid display mode was called out prior to me placing the order. Anyway, I am within the return period and will return the product and wait until this feature is restored.
