Galaxy S24
Just recently upgraded phone (Galaxy S9) to the flagship S24 (not plus, not ultra, just regular old s24). I have gone through every setting and googled the problem, watched YouTube "how to's" and still no fix has worked. I am not getting the little blue blinking light when my screen is locked to indicate that I have an unread text or message. Leading me to think that there is one more place I need to go to get this fixed. (There are way too many individual.places to go to set up one simple thing.) So far, I'm not really impressed with my significant upgrade. But since my s9 was no longer being supported or able to receive updates anymore, I had to do it.

Any ideas on why I can't get the repeated blinking to indicate I have a message waiting?

Thank you.

What blue blinking light are you talking about? Do you have a screenshot?

On my S9, in the upper left corner of my phone screen, there was a notification light. Whenever I received a text/message, it would blink until I read the message. I can't show you a screenshot because I no longer have the phone. It was extremely helpful if I was away from my phone and a message came in while I was gone. I would come back to my locked screen and see a blinking notification light to tell me I had received a text/message while I was away from my phone. Now. With the S24, if I am away from my phone and a message comes in, I have to actually unlock my phone to see if anything came in. I'm just trying to figure out if this is even a thing on the new phone. How do you know, other than unlocking screen when you have unread texts?

I believe indicator lights are no longer a thing (at least, not on Samsung phones).  You can, however, use accessibility settings to enable flash notifications and choose whether to use camera flash notification or screen flash notification, choose a color, choose specific apps or all apps. I do not know whether it's a continuous flash or only flashes when the notifications arrive, or periodically repeat. Settings/accessibility/advanced settings/flash notification.

Yah. Thank you, I have that but it's only good if you are near your phone. I'm not always next to my phone (I know, the horror!). I've dibe these setting adjustments.
It's frustrating that they took this feature away. Like I said before, I'm not satisfied with this "upgrade" at all. Very disappointed.

Other brands may still have it, but honestly, I havent seen it since my Asus Zenphone. Before my A54, which does not have an indicator light, I had an S10 lite, which also did not have one. Your notifications should show on your lock screen or AOD if you have that turned on, and you can also turn on the feature that will cause a vibration when you pick up the phone if you have notifications waiting. Or, you can buy a smart watch and get the notifications on your watch.

For me, it's not such a hardship to open the phone and see weather I have a notification, but I do have them showing on my lock screen and AOD.

Had my old phone for 8 years before upgrading to this one, so I got used to the notification light. It will just take some getting used to, to not having one anymore. šŸ«¤ Thank you all for your help

The upper left is where the camera apparatus is, and there is probably no room for an additional LED behind the camera.  Just a guess, I'm thinking that with all the stuff + bigger battery they stuffed into the newer phones, there was just no room left.

Welcome. This is an old feature that's no longer available. However, you can download the goodlock app and use the edge lighting + feature to get a similar effect you desire.
