This is a known issue with AT&T SINCE October 2022. Sunday at&t told me it would be 7 days before they resolved my issue. I'm trying to switch from at&t after a 3 year contract. Number is ported ok, but AT&T provided an incorrect number and now I can only use my phone over WiFi. No calls or texts. Samsung says they can only help with phones that are purchased directly through them. At&t says I can use the new carrier SIM in a different device.

Did they provide the wrong unlock code, or did you enter it wrong?  In any case, if they have a mechanism to correct it and it will take 7 days, just be patient and let them do it.  If you need phone and text during those 7 days, download WhatsApp and start using that.  Yes, of course, you can use your new carrier's SIM in a different device - but that assumes you have a different, unlocked device to use it in (buncha derps over there).  Does your new carrier perhaps have a deal where you can get the  phone "free" for staying with them for 2 years?  That would solve the both the unlock issue and the using the new SIM.

The deal I'm getting with spectrum... Free cellular service for 1 year because our new apartment complex uses spectrum Internet and cable. No free phone, but actually free service instead of fake free phone. Yes, they gave me the wrong code.

OK, so see if the other option of downloading WhatsApp is feasible for you in the meantime.  Another way to go is if you and most of the people you contact most use Facebook Messenger, you can call and text through that app.  WhatsApp may be the better choice if you need to contact anyone other than your contacts. AT&T says the will fix it in 7 days, but you never know with them.  If you can afford to, maybe you can buy a cheap, unlocked anybrand phone to use with your new service and to keep as a backup device. BLU has some very nice sub-$100 phones on Amazon that would serve fine as a temporary backup.  BLU was actually my first smart phone when they first came on the market and it was reliable and functional.  Just a suggestion. Although by the time you get any new device, AT&T could have solved your problem.

I have a Google voice number that I use for my business. So I can call or text with it. But only on Wi-Fi. We just got a new apartment on Friday so all our extra money went into that. If they can't fix it by my next payday I'll get a new cheap phone. Maybe not Samsung.

I would like to know if there is an entity in charge of reviewing cases like yours and mine is exactly the same problem that I have. What I see is that they sell locked cell phones so that when the client wants to change operators, it is useless, only so that it works with the company it was purchased from because in reality this seems very unfair to me to buy such expensive cell phones and when you change companies, it is useless.

I'm going to file a complaint with the FCC. This has been a known issue for 3 years!

The problem is your carrier.  Other carriers allow you to unlock your phone right in their app when it's eligible, no code needed. T-Mobile does.  Selling you a locked phone is legal, it is a way of giving you a) a good deal on a phone and, b) keeps you with them for a period of time.  I believe they are legally required to unlock it upon request and after 3 months on their service.  Verizon, supposedly, unlocks the phone after 3 months and T-Mobile lets you do it right in their app and lets you know when it's eligible for unlocking. AT&T has always made people jump through hoops for anything.

Luis, have you had any luck yet or is your phone still in brick mode? I'm in hold with AT&T right now. He tried to tell me I have to wait another 3 days. I firmly told him that is not how this is going to go down.

Hello, good afternoon, I have not yet had a solution, this problem has been going on for months now, I am making a formal letter to pass it on to a regulatory entity, since my phone cost $1200 dollars.
