Media will not play when on a video call. What's going on Samsung?

After updating my S24 Ultra to the One UI7, media on browsers and certain apps (like crunchyroll; anime guy here) can no longer be played.

Long story short.

So I'm ALWAYS on FaceTime with my wife who resides overseas. (Still working on getting her to the states. Wish me luck with all thats going on)

There's a 12 hour time difference between us and so when she's up, I'm asleep. When I'm up, she's asleep.

Now whether she's still asleep or it's the weekend and she wants to nap but have me on the phone, thats fine with me. I'll stay on call. It's my wife duh.

But I do go out with friends at times so that's when the call ends. But I sometimes I stay watching videos while we are on call and she's cool with it.

But after this update, now I can no longer do that? Some apps do still play the media but some don't.

The play button is there but even with the power of the GALAXY in your finger ;), it's not going to play. Has anyone had or is getting this same issue?

What's going on Samsung???? 

Why all of a sudden this can't be done?

I can be a creep and just stare at my wife sleep the entire time if that's what you want. Jk lol

Then that would be within the Netflix programming, and something to take up with the Netflix developers.

Again, already done.  But this was triggered by the update, and changes relating to their app would have been communicated well in advance of the update.  As per the original post, this is about more than just Netflix though as the same behaviour is seen in other apps as well.

It's the same with YouTube.. twitter Facebook.. every single video on any app or any website

I'm experiencing this same issue. I found this forum through a Google search. I'm just astonished that there's someone here actually trying to convince others that this is a feature and not a bug???

It defeats a crucial (and long existing) use case of PiP if you can't use media in the background app.

I tell you what, you can't play videos to your call partner or Zoom participants while sharing your screen. Is this a "feature" too?

I'm going to assume no one has a working fix for this yet.  (multiple apps don't work with this update.  Only ones I know that work are MX player, Prime Video, and some other YouTube apps.

This is beyond frustrating, but I'm glad to know it's not just me. I was beginning to think this phone was broken, or that I'd messed with some settings I shouldn't have, but no, this was by design?!? It's so ridiculous. I need multiple devices to accomplish what my previous generation phone could do just fine. I feel like i got a downgrade 😭

Update #2: Its been a couple of months already and the no media issue has not resolved. I still cannot watch crunchyroll videos or web videos while on the phone with someone. I have come to be fine with out it at this point. IT IS WHAT IT IS... at this point lol feel like im writing a **bleep** diary 🙃

My laptop died, i was thinking of Samsung Dex being a replacement for a new one. All the other issues I can deal with. But not being able to watch a video on call seams like a dealbreaker to me.
