Another thing I don't want that Samsung apparently thinks I must have. Is there anyway to turn off RTT?

They seem to hate giving us a choice

Unfortunately not. The only two options are 1) show only during calls, and 2) always show.

This is apparently intended for the hearing impaired. This is a great idea for that use case, but those of us who don't need or want this feature should still be able to turn it completely off.

Go to your Phone settings

Accessibility

Hearing Enchantments

Real Time Text and Toggle it off

There is no on/off toggle, I've gone all through the settings

@robtmrks Did you ever get it turned off? I have been having the same issue and truly want RTT to be off my phone. I do not need it either. Mine connects to my music app also and will not automatically close when a call has ended, leaving two apps opened.

I am aware that there might be a solution, but it is currently eluding my thoughts.

If you don't tap the button, it doesn't do anything.  It doesn't hurt anything just existing, it's just another option on the phone screen.  Don't want to use it? Don't tap it.  It's wild what irritates some people.

I didn't tap it. It's wild what people misread. I have done nothing to turn it on, but it comes on anyway.

Then put in an error report, it's not supposed to do that.
