Can anyone tell me if the default message app is being replaced by Google messages on Samsung phones?

I briefly had the S25 Ultra and Google Messages was the only messaging app that was pre-installed.

Yes. Some new phones don't even come with Samsung's in-house messaging app anymore.

No. That's just an extra app by Google. You choose whatever is better for you. I tried, but didn't like it, so I went back the regular messages, just make sure to select the default settings on the app you choose.
If your phone doesn't have it, download it from the Playstore.

You can't get Samsung Messages from the Play Store. You need to get it from "Galaxy" Store, BUT some features are not available. They removed Theme support for example and RCS just got added back but specifically for certain carriers(this has been tested and verified).

Google messages is default for All android devices and was pointed out various times by 3rd party as well as Samsung and Google.

I have the S24+, and I didn't want to switch to Google messages. We'll, I noticed that people were saying that I wasn't responding to their messages, so I found out it was because I wasn't using the "forced" Google messaging. People weren't getting my replies and there were times I wouldn't receive messages. After I switched, no problems. Do I like it? No. Do I use it? Unfortunately.
