S24 ultra camera, help

So I've noticed that when using 12MP, 50MP, and even 200MP, my phone isn't using the camera to its full potential. I'm really confused because I haven't changed anything in my settings. Is anyone else having this problem?

So I did some research. Samsung has changed how the camera aspect ratios work on the Samsung S24 Ultra. 9:16 used to capture at the full 12 MP. But now, if you want the full image quality of 12 MP, 50 MP, and 200 MP, you need to use 3:4. I don't know why they did this.

I don't see what you are getting at here.  You flooded the post with LARGE screen shots that are not even photos you took to illustrate this lack of potential utilization. Most people use their cameras in standard mode without changing any settings, just the resolution.  Those that want to utilize full potential usually switch to pro mode so that they have more control over their shots.  If you are looking to do professional photography, I suggest you buy an actual camera.

I was looking for help because it wasn't a problem before. And just so you are aware, even in the pro mode it was still doing the same thing. If you want the full potential of the hardware we have on the s24 ultra. You need to use 3:4.

I don't have an S24, I have an A54, but I don't really pay attention to settings or how the camera is utilized. I can't believe the A54 would have a better camera array than the S24.  I take a picture, if it looks decent, I keep it. If it could use some work, I edit it. If it's crappy I delete it.  I usually snap in 12 MP mode because one can't zoom in 50 MP (on my phone, anyway).

I just tested my camera, and I seem to be able to change the ratio when I change resolution.  My choices are 3:4, 9:16, 1:1 and full.  Same in 12MP and 50MP.  I don't usually bother with the ratio. FWIW my naked eye can't tell the difference between a picture taken at either resolution, so why do I need to have a bigger file size?

Yeah, you can't really tell on a phone screen. The real difference is when you upload the pictures to a bigger screen, like a TV or computer. On a side note, I mainly use the 12MP for day-to-day stuff. I had just noticed the 12MP wasn't 12MP anymore, so that's why I asked here. P.s. There's nothing wrong with using 12MP. This picture was used with a 9:16 aspect ratio at 12MP

How did you transfer the picture?? Did you use Link to Windows??

You can or you can use the USB-C cable that came with your phone and plug it into the computer

The pixel count for each sensor, 12MP, 50MP and 200MP is for the entire sensor. If used to take pictures at 3:4, 9:16, 1:1 or anything other than Full, only a percentage of the sensor's pixels are being utilized, reducing pictures quality.
