Galaxy S24Hi everyone,
Iโm hoping someone else has seen this โ after the latest software update, my S24 Ultraโs 0.6x ultrawide camera completely stopped working. Every time I open it, I get a โCamera failedโ message, and now the entire camera app crashes more often than not.
Hereโs what Iโve already done (per Samsung Support):
- Force stopped & restarted the Camera app
- Cleared cache and data
- Reset camera settings
- Updated all apps and system software
- Booted in Safe Mode
- Wiped the cache partition
Unfortunately, after the last step, it actually got worse โ the camera now fails across multiple modes.
Iโve been an Android user for over 20 years and have never had an update break a core function like this. Itโs incredibly frustrating since I rely on my phoneโs camera daily.
Has anyone else experienced this after the update? Is Samsung aware of a patch or replacement program being worked on for this issue?
Thanks in advance โ I really hope this gets addressed quickly.

Galaxy S24Youโre definitely not alone โ several S24 Ultra users have reported the ultrawide (0.6x) crashing after the recent software update. It seems to specifically impact the camera module driver for the ultrawide lens, which then causes the whole camera app to fail.
Youโve already tried all the right troubleshooting steps, so good on you there. When none of those fix the issue, it usually means the problem is deeper in the firmware.

Go to Camera โ Settings โ About Camera โ update if a patch is available
In Galaxy Store, update:
Camera Assistant
Samsung Camera
One UI Camera-related plugins (if listed)
Re-enable all camera permissions in App Info โ Permissions
Run Samsung Members โ Support โ Diagnostics โ Camera test
โ Save and submit the report directly to Samsung
What weโve seen from others
After the update, some internal camera configuration files didnโt update properly, especially affecting the ultrawide lens.
Samsung moderators have acknowledged camera crashes and are working on a maintenance patch.
A few users with persistent issues had their rear camera module replaced under warranty โ so thatโs also an option if diagnostics show hardware failure.
Recommendation
Since you rely on the camera daily, Iโd suggest:
Submit diagnostics logs via Samsung Members
Contact Samsung Care for a service evaluation or temporary swap device
Keep an eye out for the next quick patch โ reports suggest one is already being tested
Totally understand your frustration โ updates should improve things, not break essential features. Hopefully Samsung pushes the fix ASAP.

Galaxy S24After the update UI 8.0, the 0.6X camera is the only one that works!
I think this is Samsung's way to make us buy a new phone.

Galaxy S24Hi, today It started happening to me.
Whenever I open the Samsung camera or any other apps It crashes/hangs/blackscreen.
Only app that runs is Expert RAW.
