Hi Samsung Community,

I wanted to ask if there are any updates planned for slightly older Samsung devices.

Iโ€™ve noticed that on some apps (like TikTok), a few functions donโ€™t work properly on my phone, while the same features are working fine on my friendโ€™s newer device. For example, when commenting on TikTok, their phone shows an extra function thatโ€™s missing on mine.

Could this be due to a software limitation, or is it just that some updates are not rolling out equally to all models? Any info about upcoming updates or fixes for these models would be very helpful.

Thanks!

What phone do you have? You posted in S23 forum, so if you have an S23, you should still be eligible for an update.

You are certainly eligible for updates. You should already have Android 15/OneUI7. If you don't, check with your carrier as to why or, if you have a computer, you can download Smart Switch for computer, connect your phone and try to get the update.

I am eligible for updates and Iโ€™m already running Android 15 on my phone. The issue is not with missing updates, but something else like an update error...

Hereโ€™s what I noticed: on TikTok, my friend (with the same model) can use TikTokโ€™s special emojis in comments (the ones you type with codes like [happy], [shock], etc., which automatically turn into emojis, see here if you don't know about them https://tiktokemojiz.com/). On my phone, when I type these codes, they just remain as text instead of changing into emojis.๐Ÿ˜”

TikTok support told me thereโ€™s no issue on their side, so I wanted to check if it could be a software-related error on my device. Has anyone else faced this, or is there a fix for it? What should I do next?

Have you tried clearing your phone's cache partition and/or the cache of the TikTok app? Did you properly download the emojis so that they are available to be called up?

Yes, Iโ€™ve cleared the cache many times, both for the phone and the TikTok app. I think this issue is specific to my device rather than the model or the update. Iโ€™ve been troubleshooting it for the past 2 days, and thatโ€™s what Iโ€™ve figured out so far.

Are there any recommendations from your side?

One thing is ... I'm not talking about the standard emojis...
I'm talking about TikTok special emojis... they work when we type their hidden codes in the comments... but unfortunately not in my case

Perhaps it's a keyboard error. Which keyboard are you using? Try a different one. Is there a setting in TikTok that you have to turn on?

Awww, I actually ignored the keyboard part. Iโ€™ll check this right away and then confirm to you. Thanks for pointing it out!
