Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra - SM-S928W

Up until this morning when I got up my phone always had the apps icon located one row above the favourites bar at the bottom right.  Now the apps icon is located at the bottom far right side on the favourites bar where the settings icon used to be located. The settings icon is now located where the apps icon used to be, one row up directly above the apps icon.  I tried moving the apps icon back to where it should be, but I had no luck trying that.  When I long press the apps icon all it does is the usual icon wiggle that usually happens when you select an icon.  But it will not budge, so I can't move it to where I want it to be.  I can long press any other icon on the home screen and do one of the actions allowed, usually "Select" or "Remove."  I can remove the apps icon and then move the settings icon back to it's usual place.  But as soon as I add the apps icon back using the home screen settings option it's placed again where the settings icon was and the settings icon is now one row up from the favourites bar, where the apps icon is usually located.  I've tried deleting different icons from the favourites bar and then putting the settings icon where it should be.  That works until I add the apps icon back using the home screen settings option.  Then the apps icon is back on the favourites bar at the far right.

I've tried cleaning out the phones cache.  I've tried turning on and off the "Lock Home Screen Layout" option.  I even tried an app called DroidKit, which is supposed to unlock icons or a phone that is locked.  That didn't work.

I'm hoping someone in the community has had this problem before and can point me in the right direction to get this fixed.

Do you have your home screen locked? If it's locked, you can't move apps around. Go to home screen settings and make sure lock home screen is off.

You used to be able to move it, now you have to use HomeUp.

Samsung in its infinite wisdom keeps offloading things they changed to Good Lock.

Oh, I don't use the apps button at all, I swipe up to get to my apps not on the home screen. I don't understand the reason for the apps button at all.

Neither do I, never did. I put it there and used HomeUp to see if it can be moved for the OP.

They could even just use home up to add another space for the other icon they wan there. I think you can have up to 9 now.

Yes, you can have up to 9. I turn off favorites. I don't need the same dock on my 3 screens, makes for more room on the other 2.

@Robin621k

I've never heard of HomeUp.  I'll have to check it out.

It's amazing, the best things in there, making your grid bigger. I use 7ร—7 instead of the standard sizes in homescreen settings. Turning off page indicators. Favorites dock up to 9. Making larger folders. Horizontal pages in alphabetical order. Using task changer for recent apps screen. I use grd view small easier to swipe away apps. Back up and Restore to save your settings. Gestures, to liven up animations 1760679755150.jpg

No, my home screen is not locked.  When it is it tells me to unlock the home screen if I want to continue to make changes to t5he home screen.
