Good day. I hope you all are having a productive week.

So, I have received my replacement device and took it to the store to transfer my data. The representative did not come the process correctly. Also, he did not decrypt my SD, he just removed and put in the new s20.
Now, my SD is not working correctly since it was decrypted from the original device.

Can anyone point me in the direction to have the fixed?

I'm sure you need the original device to decrypt the SD card. If just anybody could decrypt it, security would be worthless, wouldn't it?

Valid point. But, my original device is no longer valid. I can even do nothing with the SD card. Such as being able to use it in the replacement device.

Yes, it's a security measure, to prevent anyone from removing your SD card and opening the files - doesn't matter that it's you. I do believe they should have made a method where the original user can supply credentials to unlock it in a new device, but I'm not the developer of the encryption technology. As it stands now, the SD card can only be decrypted in the original device. I believe the decryption key resides on the device you create it on. They even warn you about this when encrypting it.

That's my point. The representative did not inform me of all of that. So, this is where I am now. I'm trying to fix the issue. When I called my carrier, they no longer had the phone, and it was wiped. The manager stated that the representative did not know. They will remind staff in the future.

You might try putting it in your laptop and move the files to it and reformat it and then put it back in your phone and see if you can use it then

Thank you! A potential solution. Thank you. The representative did not do anything pertaining to the device. If I had known this would have happened, I would have kept my original device.

If it's encrypted to one device, it would not be usable in any other, but it doesn't hurt to give it a try. When you encrypt an SD card on one device it locks it to that device.

By the way, did you actually tell the technician your SD card was encrypted before he removed it and took your phone? He may have assumed you removed any encryption before replacing your device. You are supposed to, unless it's a situation where the phone is completely dead and it would not be possible.
